Weird water in trunk problem!!

Today I opened my trunk and noticed that the cover is wet.....so I remove it as water dripped out and found out the 'wood' cover is soaked and bent. I lift that up and viola, the spare tire is IN water....the whole spare tire compartment is fill with water and signs of rust all around.
My only guess is that it's rain water as it rain for a week straight, but the question is, HOW it got inside....

Gonna make an appointment with the dealer, but I like to ask if anyone have a similar problem....or knows what's going on.

Thanks!

Sounds like one of the rain channels is leaking. Put a garden hose to work and you'll find the leak.

It might be time to change the rubber seal around the trunk. Did you check to see if it's sitting properly?

check to see if one of the water drains is plugged, it will back fill and drain into your trunk...

Get in the trunk and ask someone to water your trunk area take out floor mat donut and stuff. also don't forget to remove all the inside panels arround trunk lock. I had the same problem was pissed off of drying the trunk after every rain. But problem was easely fixible (in my case). Ayte after u found out which side was leaking just use some jbkwik or silicone. This kind of leaks are caused by small almost invisible cracks beetween metal panels. Especcialy if your car had rear damage. Good luck.
P.S. had the same problem on my 4th gen, fixed it the same way.
PM me for any Q.

I did change the taillight, but that was 2 years ago........but it's could be the source of the problem. I'll check the sealants as well..

Thanks.

There are several gaskets (best way to describe them) along the floor of the trunk. Check to see that they're all there and not loose.
