Maxima 2003?

It should have a 3.5 liter engine and 260+ hp. It probably going to move up a class to a full size.

I figure it'll have what the Altima has in the least (HID headlamps, inde rear suspension, gated shifter (hopefully with 5-speed auto).
I'm hoping they drop the GXE and have two models:
Maxima (this is the former GLE),
Maxima-S (this is the SE)
They should give the 'S' 18" wheels, perforated leather seats, sport suspension, etc (you know...all the 'sport' goodies)
I think Nissan cheapened the GXE with the 4th gen to compete pricewise with the 4-banger in the camcord (camry & accord). I have a 92 GXE that is loaded (remember there was no GLE then so the GXE was todays GLE). Now that the Altima just absolutely smacks even the 6 cyclinder camcords, Nissan otta lose the GXE. Just my opinion.
But...to answer your question...I'm eagerly awaiting the 2003 as well (I heard that it won't be available until the spring of 2003...i.e. a 2003.5?)
Also...a buddy of mine who works for Nissan said that it might have a V-8. That'll be sweet if true. Maybe a de-tuned version of the 4.5L in the Q? Since VW is coming out with a 280HP W8 for the Passat...I think an optional V8 might be the ticket!

If Nissan won't come with an option for a V8 there is a very good chance that the new maxima will always look at the tail lights of the Passat W8(If you know what I mean)
Here is a good picture of a W8 passat
