Wrecked the Max
Wrecked the Max
I was on my way home at 4 in the morning on a rain slick road and as I drove over the hill and made the turn to the left my car fishtailed, did a 180 and I was slung into a ditch. As I slammed on the breaks she was going backwards for a good 150 feet until I hit a fence post which damaged the front fender and tore the back end up pretty bad. When they put her on the record flluids were leaking from underneath and everything else. Here is a link to my pics. Any help on wether you think it's totaled or not http://www.cardomain.com/ride/675591/5

it is reasonable to say that it might be totalled out... you damaged some really expensive places.
that rear quarter panel is $$$$$ to fix, someone nudged mine with the corner of their truck and dented it. just to pull the dent and repaint that one area cost his insurance $1,400. you need to have that quater panel fixed, a new rear bumper, all new supports, a new bumper pad, new taillight, new front quarter panel, work done to the door, and then have it all repainted.
I would not be surprised at all if that was totalled out, the car only books for at most $9,000-$10,000
no way that is totaled unless the damage at the back messed up the frame. couple of body panels and a paint job and she is good as new. how many miles though? if it is over ~150K they may say its not worth it
O by the way the car has 62,000 miles and its a 2000 so yeah not to sure it would be totaled but I know some people and they can help me out. I think I would rather it be totaled take all my **** off which in total cost about $4000 and put it on a 2003 max, same color as mine... Not sure yet and YES i was on Nankang tires. ugh
not sure if this is the spot for it... but I have a 2000 GLE ECU/ECM available. It's a rebuild that was guaranteed to work. I had it put in and it did work... 100%, but it didn't solve the problem (which was two fold... bad speed sensor and thermostat). Either way, i've kept my original ECU/ECM and looking to help someone else out. I paid $275 for but will part with it for the best reasonable offer i get... email enelius@yahoo.com if you are interested (or know somebody who would be)... thanks.
Estimate is in
The body shop/insurance came up with a grand total cost of $5500 for repair. Which did not meet the 70% of my value, therefore it is not totaled and now I will repair, but full coverage. I got the body shop to take care of the deductible aslo... Thanks for your concerns. If you guys want to buy some things I still may sell, cuz I am thinkin of strippin the car and getting an 02... not sure, but if anyone has any thoughts of what they would like to buy just hit me up. I'm on here every day, sometimes every hour, atleast once!!!

Fortunately for me I will not have to part out my car... I am getting it fixed and poosibly driving it by monday, maybe even friday... IF and ONLY IF I decide to sell the car, which I have not determined at this point, will I possibly sell the HIDs or anything else that may fit a 00-01 maxima. I am tryin to get a 02-03 and some of the things I won't need anymore... I will keep you guys (and girls) updated on the progress!!
Update
I got my maxima back today and she is now fixed, well atleast partly... The owner of the body shop told me drive it over the weekend and check anything that doesn't seem right so I have already noticed a loud clicking/popping noise coming from the right rear quarter... It sounds as if it could be a strut or something. The right side of the car was not even hit so I don't know what could be causing this, I also noticed a few other minor things... But for $6000 in damage and fixed in exactly two weeks IMO is pretty remarkable. One last thing, I was putting my system back in the car, which I took out at the scence of the accident and noticed my amp had been damaged. The circuit board was cracked and I must now spend another $200^. Just thought I would update everyone on how the car is. Any replies to what that noise could possibly be would be benefial, they are goin to fix it but it's buggin me
Sorry to hear about the accident man, but im glad its out, your damages look more then $6,000, but if they fixed it then fine. Make sure you analyze everything, so that way they can take care of it, still under insurance, get as much as you can out of it, even if it means fixing your amp.. this is what insurance is for. The noise might be from the exhaust bangning against the frame, or if you have a rear sway bar that might also be banging. but make sure you get it checked out and keep us posted... good luck
Appreciate the help on that, I am goin to let the insurance company know what's going on with it b/c it was damaged in the accident... But I will keep you guys posted and I thought it was more than 6k in damage too my friend!
