Non-AE door sill plates, with Maxima wording, sounds like a custom job: I have not see any dealer or after-market door sill plates for 5th Maximas.

The AE sills read only "MAXIMA". They are stainless on plastic. Choose the color of plastic that matches (or contrasts - your choice) your interior. Order them at any Nissan dealer for around $50 for all 4 doors. Installation is a 'snap' as in snap-in, no tools needed.

You young dudes with your fancy cars

Damn. I must be "old-school."

When I was 17, I took the $800 I had saved
(and my folks gave me $200 for my birthday) and
bought a 1970-something Subaru DL 1600. (This
was 1983, BTW) I kept this car running with
bailing wire and duct tape all through
college - until 1989.

Where the heck do all you youngsters get Maximas?

How about this dude "psing23" - his .sig says
he has a 2k SE "fully loaded" AND his dad
just gave him a Lexus GS430? Gave?

If I was 19 and had 2 (that's TWO) cars, I wouldn't
be bragging about it in public forums... But then,
I'm the humble sort.

I'm going to start one of those polls. "If you're
under age 20 and you have a 5th Gen. Maxima, are you:"

1. A lottery winner
2. Incredibly lucky in the stock market
3. Spending your college fund on cars instead of college
4. A rich pr*ck who doesn't know the value of a dollar

OK, time to fess up. Who's buying these cars for you
people?

I am 18 years old and just spent $23,000 on my Black on Black Maxima SE w/ C&C Package and I had mods in my house for it before I had the car! I was 16 and driving a 98 Maxima SE until a few weeks ago, so I am pretty young too. I worked my @$$ off and saved my cash and that is how I have the money for my car and the money to Mod! Pluss I'm Italian!

Re: You young dudes with your fancy cars

Thanks for the responses, "young dudes" It
was interesting to read what you had to say. I
originally came in here looking for info on sills,
but look where I ended up...

To be completely fair, I shouldn't have singled out
psing23, but his .sig is by far one of the longer ones
and it does sort of mislead you into thinking
his Dad gave him two cars. I don't care how
"fortunate" one is, it is still mind-boggling to
think that someone's parents would have given
them two cars. You should think about changing
the wording on that .sig, dude - and I'll turn
off .sigs so that I won't be biased by what I
see there anymore...

Choice #4 on my "poll" was tongue-in-cheek, I
forgot the smiley. Sorry. I also should have
added another choice for those of you have have
actually earned the money. Congrats to you on
that - I spent all my money on college, so I
had to drive the Subaru! Hey ItalianMax2KSE,
what does being Italian have to do with it?!

Psing23 - maybe you'll understand where I'm
coming from when you're my age with kids of
your own. It's a different perspective than
the one you're currently seeing life from. Had
my parents given me the equivalent of a $25-30K
car back in 1983, I probably wouldn't have turned
it down. However, I too was "fortunate" that
my folks taught me that you have to earn the
money for things before you have them.

I see that parking lots in the schools in the
upscale neighborhoods and I just have to hope
that the BMWs and the Lexuses (Lexi?) that I
see are cars that belong to worried parents who
let the kids drive them and were not "given" to
these kids.

Can you imagine being one of these kids who is
given everything - expensive cars, etc. and then
one day is faced with the shock of realizing that;

1. BMWs cost $50,000 and
2. that is quite a lot of money, regardless of
how "fortunate" one is.

It comes down to a question of values, and that's
a can of worms best not opened here.

I've had my say. If you actually read this,
congratulations. Now you know where I'm coming
from.

hah!

at my school, their are these twins. their seniors, so like 17 years old.

well, their parents just got them each a new car... a benz ml320 and a clk320. its their's to drive...

now... their parents.. they have a sl600 and s600 ($100k!)

and i swear, IM NOT EXAGGERATING!

and their not the richest kids in school either.

and some other news about them... the twins and their brothers recently got busted in NYC for smoking weed in the public street around 2am... so an undercover cop caught them, and took them to the station. well, they called their parents, and they bring along their lawyers...

anyway, by the end of the night, their out FREE, with NO charges, and they spent a couple hundred-thousand on their lawyers... now thats money, sheese

that's my story about xtreme richies.

Re: You young dudes with your fancy cars

This is exactly what I'm talking about. What
impression are these kids left with? "I get
everything I want, including upscale cars that
most adults can't afford." "And when I do
something wrong, (and there's no denying that
they actually did break the law, right?), my
parents will bail me out."

I got busted for underage drinking when I was
19 (first year of college). My dad went to
court with me and made sure I stood up and pleaded
"guilty"! I paid the fine.

What did these two just learn? They learned
that they can get away with anything, including
breaking the law. They learned that the justice
system in America works differently for the
super-rich.

In the end, they are left thinking that the world
owes them everything. There's a whole generation
of rich kids like this. It's called "pathological
entitlement." It's a pretty poor way to get a
start as an adult in this world.

that's why the youth of today r good 4 nothing ... one reason is their parent's who don't know or care 2 raise them

look around us ... the world was better ten years ago .. & even better ten years b4 then ....

just my thoughts

check it, im 17 and i consider myself extremely fortunate to be in a situation where my parents can get me a 25k car...also, its tru that until a lil while ago, i didnt know the tru value of a buck...however, im not one of these rich boys who smokes weed and pimps like 8 hos either....i dont have a job, but thats only cuz my parents want me to concentrate on school, and whether anyone thinks that a decent reason to get me such an xpensive car or not is ur own opinion.......
and ohboiya, who tha F**K! do u think u r to say todays youth "r good 4 nothing"?!! u must be f***in hard f***in headed to same sum stupid sh** like that....yea todays youth do sum f***ed up stuff, columbine and SD and stuff, but ur juss f***in stereotyping now...nobody's gonna be even close to perfect..back when u were young, lets say, rock and roll was starting up, and everybody was like oh no, look at today's youth, they're horrible..are u?.....and ya, some, maybe a lot, of parents r neglicting their kids, but my parents, not to put anyone else's parents down, r the most loving and caring ppl i know...they would do anything for me, including buy me a car...they here for everything and anything i need......u need to open ur f***in eyez; every new generation is gonna seem more and more radical to the older generation; todays youth r gonna be the leaders of 2morrow, so u best stop living ur happy days of the 60's or however old u r and start living today...

ye thats what im saying...

how can you say we are good for nothing? we are what is going to make this world continue... when u and your generation are gone... guess whos going to still be here? why do you think we are good for nothing? because life is a little bit better over all for everyone so since we have it a little bit better off than people 50 years ago it means that now we are good for nothing? I am 19 years old... ever since i was 16 i have been working in my fathers store after school everyday... during the summer i work there full time for the whole week... i kno the value of a dollar... i know how to manage and how to make decisions... you are very wrong yourself for waht you said and it just makes you seem like the one who is narrow minded... what did you do so great that makes you good for something? all we need is a little group of people like to you start saying that other groups are good for nothing and then we have nice conflicts arising.... oh wait a second? i think we have that today... and guess by who? is it YOUR generation? well all i can say is ignorant people is our problem today... nothing to do with age, sex, race, culture... its just ignorant people are the ones that cause most of our problems today

i used to drive my dads old 95 pathfinder. after he gave it to me, he bought a maxima. but a couple of months ago, the pathfinder died, so he gave me the maxima, and decided to get a new car again (he was planning on giving me the maxima anyway, i had helped him choose out a car that i planned on getting)

anyway, so i got the car from my dad, and i bought every single mod with my own money. i might be kinda young, but im making alot of money. i work on the internet for www.GameSpy.com ($ based on traffic), i work after school for www.e-lens.com as creative director($10/hr) and i do ALOT of websites for kiddies at school (~$300+ each!)

so i make alot of money for my age, so i can afford to spend some of my cash. and i do save money, b/c i become a freshmen at college next year (parsons school of design, NYC), all my gamespy.com checks go to the bank, and i have over $3000 in it.

internet + computers = money

im grateful my dad gave me his car, so i bought him a nice golf shirt, good trade eh?
