Static shocks from a maxima everytime?

i just helped my mom find a good deal on a maxima and ive never had this problem but then again i have a 4th gen.

She has a 5th gen 2000 maxima se and everytime you go to get in and out you get shocked by the body/door handle.

Could it be the tires? it came with Kumho, not sure about the exact type.
Anyone have any ideas? This is really annoying!!

Also we live in california, but ive never known any friends cars to have this issue or anything.

Big Thanks,
DaveI

this was happening to me as well, but only on the drivers door. Did it for about 2 weeks and slowly went away. I thought it was a shortage somewhere but couldnt find it even after tearing apart the driver's door. Good luck with it though.

it's not the car itself....it's all in the way you get out of the car. the whole static thing actually happened to me just as much with my previous 3 cars. JUST AS MUCH. when you get out of the driver's seat, if you pivot around so you're facinig out the door to get out, then you WILL get shocked because of that rubbing your butt's doing. If instaed you just step out towards the side without spinning 90degrees, you decrease your chances greatly. Second, when you go to close the door, touch it QUICKLY with your entire palm, as if you're about to slap a b!tch. believe me, the faster you make contact you won't get shocked. when you slowly approach the door afraid it's gonna shock you, IT WILL!! the doors can smell your fear!! ahahaha jp, but NOT kidding about the whole getting out of the car thing...try it out, works every time. and if i think i i'm gonna get shocked (i can usually tell if my butt's been sliding around too much) then the first part of my body taht makes contact with the outside of the door is my leg or anything covered with clothes....after that you can touch it fine with your skin w/o any shocks. for a science major this was a terrible solution/explanation but it works, try it
