Check engine light question......

My body was trying to be funny and unplugged the TPS plug. So I got the SES light on. Will it turn off by itself or do I need to reset the ECU? Thanks Greg.

nope, this is how to do it: http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/ecu.asp

the 5.5 gens are totally different than the 5th gens...that's a very common misconception...

In another thread someone mentioned that timing is critical in the process to reset your ECU, I agree. I tried it about 15 times before I got it right, but the light has not come back on so far....[fingers crossed]....

I'm a musician and i use my metronome for timing (beep-beep-beep once a second..) Never got wrong. 1st beep - turn the key; 4th - floor the pedal 5 times, once on each beep; wait 7 beeps, on 8th floor again and wait at least 11 beeps (actually a little more till the light starts blinking). Release the pedal. Read the codes if needed. Floor it again for 11 or more beeps (the longer the better to be sure). Return the key to off position and you are done. Good luck.
