you can't put HID in OEM housing. It looks stupid. Bad light output, glare, im sure its illegal, this lst can go on. And I am guess you want like 12000k or 1 million k color temp.

sixx - you can put HIDs in oem housing. If he gets a 4500k or 5k the light output should be fine

go to HIDplanet.com adn check out thier forsale forum... you can get any ballast that is d2s/d2r compatible. OEM is preferred (philips, matshi ta, denso, bosch) and you will need rebased d2r bulbs converted for h4 sockets. Also, i think a casper shield is recommended against glare.

Sure, and you could run a 18 wheeler pipe exhaust on the sides of your car. But it would look stupid. Bottom line, hids in non hid housing is a no no. Everyone should know that

Here you go!

BTW, I bought the 5000K hi/lo kit from this guy and the material looks great with instructions and all. I haven't even taken mine out of the box. However, I've decided that I will not do the install and I want to get rid of my kit so I may sell it within the next few months. I paid $295 for mine.

There is an open challenge for everyone with there halogen housings (not retrofits). Post pics of your headlights. Pictures I need to compare are: from inside the car shooting down the street, field ally, etc. and on a wall 25 feet away and one from the front showing the headlights. I will post mine. We can see which light output look better and legel. Mine is even better than 02-03.

Your oem halogen housing with your hid 'kit'

yeah, you know what's funny is that this forum is known by a bunch of other sites to be full of good knowledge on a car that doesn't have much aftermarket support. However, in terms of HID, we are known as one of the bigger ricer communities.

To answer a few of the questions:

True enough, but it doesn't mean that it is the right thing to do. This is also a place where people ask for opinions and it should be the duty of the 'community' to give the most correct information possible.

What all those guys buyiung on the GD are putting it into different housing.
Probably into their stock 2k2+ HID that don't like the 4100K bulbs. By installing HID into the Halogen reflector from a 2K-2K1 he will lose high beams and be using a bulb not designed for that kind of housing. IF he retrofits a projector he can get a bi-xenon and have the sharp output on the low beam and have an HID high beam as well. Hope that helps, and SIXX keep up the fight.

LOL who are you the fashion police, i've heard of guys putting hid kits in the 2k 2k1 oem housing and it looks fine, no complaints from them so before you RULE you judgement on everyone plz know what your talking about. Maybe he cant afford the 2k2 2k3 housings so a 300 dollar hid kit would be better for him! Dude you can get hid kits for cheap from ebay. Theres people that sell them cheap with the philips ballasts. Or if you want go to the parts for sale forum i think theirs guys that sell the 2k2 2k3 oem housings for liek 600 bucks, thats if you wan to spend that much. Also when posting pics of GLARE show pics of it on the road not ON A GARAGE DOOR, hmm i wonder how many people drive with garage doors infront of them. but then six always

glare is what causes other drivers to blinded on the road. You can't see the glare you produce but other drivers can. The garage is used to show where the stray light is going.

1. No I am not the fashion police, but the real police will be pulling you over with that glare. (Then again you were the one that got banned for bad mouthing cops)
2. Yea there is no complaint from them but the other drivers are flashing them with their high beams all night
3. I see HID kits in halogen housing on a nightly basis with all the civics around here
4. I don't have 2k2-2k3 housings I have a retrofitted projector headlights
5. You can put together your own 'kit' on eBay with projectors for under 300 dollars.
6. How could pictures of the lights on the road show glare? Oncoming drivers see the glare not you.

Rob once again you have made yourself look real dumb because you didn't know **** about what you were talking about. Maybe you should do some research or know something before opening your mouth.

Rob... or whatever your name is..just listen to Sixxx and ME... YOU MAKE NO SENSE! OF course he has to show glare on a garage.. you can't see it otherwise... How do you think your car manual reccomends aiming your headlights???? Answer: WITH A GARAGE OR WALL in front of the car! Notice that Sixxxone knows what he's talking about.. take a look at his cutoff... it's like a knife... his point is simply.. Don't waste money on getting crappy lighting results.. when you can do a better job with the same money and a little ingenuity.

another thing Dr. Roy has done, which takes a lot of creativity, is using the stock halogen housings and dremeling a hole into the reflector so a projector can fit. It looks a lot more stealthy than the ebay projector lights so that automatically saves you the $250. The only drawback is you need some dremeling skills and an extra set of headlights. You can get bulbs, ballast, projector, and some spare headlights for around $400 tops.

also... Robski got banned again
