So yesterday....wasnt a good day at all. My driver side A-pillar trim broke off which led to all my guages and all falling off into my lap. Well I pull up at home and go to put up all my windows before I start taking all this stuff out and starting over with a fresh A-pillar trim piece and nothing. The windows are all stuck down and the sunroof is stuck open. Ive checked every fuse in the car, and under the hood, no blown fuses. Now I know that all those switches/motors havent gone bad at the exact same time, so Im left with the relay. Now if I replace the relay and it still doesnt work I dont know what Ill do. Anyone have any suggestions on checking the relay/switches/motors and anything else that could cause this. Everything else works, the radio, the power locks, AC controls, etc. work just fine, its JUST the windows and the moonroof.

1. 10a fuse, 40a fusible link.
2. E90 circuit breaker.
3. Power window relay. (Doubt it)
4. Power window relay circuit. (Not likely)
5. Ground circuit.
6. Power window main switch. (Probably not this, as you roof is screwed too.)

It is more than likey, #1 or #2.

 

#1. checked both.

Where is #2 located?

As for the rest Ill have to check that tomorrow after I get home from work.

 

i believe it would be between the fusible link and the power window relay.

 

my wife has a 2002 se with 6-speed, her windows and sunroof also quit working, what did you figure out was wrong with your maxima....thanks

 

ok soooooooooo, I replaced the relay for the windows, still not working, replaced the smart remote entrance thingy, still not working. Look at hundreds of post, from multi web sites, bought the stupid repair manuel from the parts store. Finally pulled the widow switch panel from the driver door. There is a large white wire with a red stripe going into the switch, this is the hot wire I made a little jumper wire over to the large white wire next to it and holy cow all of the windows started working. Sunroof and rear defogger along with the auto headlights not working. Had to scratch my head and my butt on this one, just about ready to set the stupid car on fire and be done with it, but I went to bed on it, thought on it for a while. Next morning I went out and dropped the bottom dash panel out AGAIN, pulled the whole fuse panel down, only two screws and three wiring plugs, looked behind it and there are three relays on the back of it. I didnt have power on the upper right fuses, I think its the electric acc. fuse, and the 02 sensor fuse, so this also caused the engine to light to come on with 02 sensor errors. I went ahead and relaced all three relays, two were blue and one was brown, same as the relays used under the hood. Plugged them all in hooked the battery back up and now everything works . Oh yeah I tried unhooking the battery thing that everyone recommends, that didnt work, tried holding the sunroof button for 10 seconds or whatever and that **** didnt work either. And I can tell you that if you changed the smart entrance thingy your remote will NOT work, plan to change it back this weeekend. I hope this helps someone, Lord knows I couldnt find any info on it to help me. If anyone needs a smart entrance thingy I have a spare one for sale...LOL
