trouble removing shifter surround
#1
I did a search on this, and I have removed the one screw in the middle behind the ash tray, but I can't get the shifter surround to pop off. I tried prying it with a small blade screwdriver, but no luck. I was wondering if anyone could tell me where the clips are, or how to remove it.

I thought to remove the shift around, you simply pull the ash tray/change holder thingy out, then pry up and pull out the shift around. The screws, behind the ash tray/change holder, only need to be removed if you are loosening/removing the entire center console. I could have remembered wrong....

Thanks for the help guys. I removed it from the right side where the bend occurs in the surround, but I found that the clips are in the part around the shifter itself and none on the vertical portion near the ashtray and hazard button. There are four clips total, two on each side of the shifter. And otter'smax, I WAS pretty scared that I was going to break something, but I after trying to pry it, it just made a big pop and I knew that it had came out. And you were right that it shouldn't break, cause it seems kinda pliable. To mdeal, the screw in the back of the ashtray needs to be removed if you are planning on accessing the back of the radio, or A/C vents or something, but also probably for the entire center console as you said. Thanks again.
