buy a Magellan GPS Navi unit...it's MUCH better than the factory Navi....and you can just mount it anywhere.

and no, I don't know of anyone who has done what you are asking...

WHy not go aftermarket? I'm sure an OEM conversion would cost lots of $, probably more than an aftermarket setup. And isn't the OEM navi regionally CD based?

Eclipse is nice but pricey . Does any one know how much for OEM and if it will work on 2001 SE AE?

bijangxe told me he knew someone who did this and it cost several thousand dollars... definitely not worth it!

there is too much auxiliary wiring that would be necessary to convert...get the eclipse and u wont find a need to look back. the sound quality alone is worth the investment...not to mention the dvd capability and so much more

Go with the aftermarket navigation....I have the factory navi in my car...the auto CC is a cool feature to have...especially with it built into the factory navi....looks real cool....but it still does the same job as standard CC...nothing spectacular IMO...

most aftermarket navis come mp3/dvd/tv and other goodies which are WAY better than what the stock navi....definitely worth it
