Is the strut spacer really important?

After putting in the new struts i realized i forgot to put in the very thin paper like strut spacer wich goes between the strut mount and the body of the car. Is this spacer important? Can i drive without it or should i put it back in ?

it's a noise insulator

i forgot to put one back on my girlfriend's car and it is a little bit noisy now but not too bad

Not really that important, it's just to isolate noise from metal on metal contact. It would be a good idea to get some and put it in if you have time, but not vital...
