What all is involved in getting the brakes deglazed, cleaned and lubed. The stealer wants 95Canadian for it. Is it something I can do on my own? Any writeups for this?

you are wasting your money if someone is charging you to clean your brakes. if you have an issue like warped rotors, low brake pads or used up brake fluid then save your money for that. cutting rotors typically costs the same as the parts for replacement.

 

You don't need to lube you caliper slides unless they are sticking. The only way they start to stick is if the rubber boots protecting the slide pins are ripped or torn.

If you want to de-glaze your pads something as simple as sandpaper can be used to remove pad material and apply a rough surface to the rotors. It's not as effective as turning the rotors but it's a h*ll of a lot cheaper.

As far as cleaning/greasing. I used brake parts cleaner to get the dust off the calipers and brake grease on the back of the pads/shims.

 

Does anyone know how much does cutting a pair of rotors comes to approximately? Just wondering?

 

a buddy of mine paid 75 bucks on his 4th gen at the dealer.
