Sidemarker rewire
#1
I re-wired my sidemarkers the other day and I was wondering if someone could help me with something. The fronts work great, but I was having problems with the rears. I spliced into the black wire coming from the rear blinker. I hooked this up to the black wire coming in from the sidemarker (after i cut the black side marker wire of course.) Nothing happened. However when spliced into the GREEN wire coming off the turn signal, it worked just like its supposed to. When i tried the same procedure on the passenger side, fuses blew. Whats wrong??

you're suppose to splice into the green yellow wire that goes into the turn signal, cut the black wire that goes into the sidemarker.. then attache the new piece of wire to the end of the black wire that goes into the side marker and disgard the other end of the black wire that used to go from the side marker to the car. if the fuse blew, you might of accidently grounded the green wire by either connecting the new peice of wire to the wrong end of the black wire, to the wrong wire, or accidently touched a peice of metal that was ground.. i hope that helped..

Thanks guys. Im actually surprised the fuses don't blow when this procedure is done because your powering more lights, which means more current draw. I would think you would have to upgrade to a higher capacity fuse.
