Show of hands...MAF issues once intake installed?

How many people blew their MAFs very, very shortly after they installed their intakes? I'm installing my Berk with APEXI tomorrow.

just be careful when u install it. Make sure the midpipe is not directly in touch with the MAF (vibration). My MAF blew 15k miles afterwards.

Arnold, you should be fine...heard 2k1 MAFs are the strongest out of all the 5th gen MAFs...well including the AM600 2k3 MAF as well....the 2k and 2k2 MAFs the are the weakest from what I heard...

Let us know how the install goes...yer gonna love yer BERK!

Hopefully none with the berk and k&n. I just ordered mine today. Bringing it to mechanic when it arrives to have it installed as well as a very badly needed brake job(rotors horribly warped and need new pads).

year with frankencar midpipe and apexi. this is my current setup.
two months with frankencar midpipe and stillen filter before that.
six months with just stillen (k&n) filter.

just blew the MAS last week. cost me $644. for the part and reprogramming at the dealership. it sounds rediculous, but it's worth it.

is there any way to tell which replacement MAS was installed? does anyone know if nissan replaces MAS with the updated, newest, probably won't blow versions, like in the 2003s (like steven88 says)? will the MAS say AM600 on it and where?

I've been running a Frankencar w/ Apexi for about 6 months. Went back to stock midpipe with Apexi filter for about a year. Now I'm running Berk midpipe with Apexi filter. No problems as of yet, except for when I had my engine cleaned (nothing more then some water in the plug, went away after I blew the water out).

you can always buy the 2y001 MAF (updated 2k1 version) and transfer the IAT sensor if u own a 2k2-2k3....the only difference is, the am600 will cost $400 wheres the 2y001 is $100....

if u want more info...check out my thread on updated MAFs

Stop being a pu$$y.. install that intake already. You've had that thing sitting in ur house for almost 3 months now. Your maf will blow no matter what. It's a matter of time and milage. I was avoiding getting an intake cuz i was scared my maf will blow. But my maf blew anyway with the stock airbox. So along with a new maf I installed my Berk setup.

I'll try to swing by u when u do the installation.

Oh and also, take all those rainbow stickers off your rear bumper..

I have an I35, not that it matters, but I have not had any problems. I know that 6spdhayes had his MAF go out after installing the PR CAI from the GD by Cattman. I think he got a used one and just replaced it.

Intake installed...and I may be crazy, but I think I feel a slight loss of power. Before, from around the 40MPH mark, my car would rip in 2nd gear...now it feels tamer. It could be the weather, but I doubt it...because I already floored my car once today and it felt like it kicked harder. :\

I don't think I'll take the intake off, though if it gives me additional MPG. Plus, the hissing/buzzing sound has gone away when the RPMs are around 1500-2000, which is really nice. And the car seems to idle quieter too.
