Major Evap Leak

Got an SES earlier and stopped by Autozone. I didn't get the exact code number, but it was reading a major evap leak. I had the same code about a month ago and thought it was the gas cap. Regardless, I checked all the hoses under the hood and couldn't find anything. At the time I thought it may have been a fluke, but now I think there's a real problem. Anyone else run into this? Any ideas on where to begin to look?

Thanks. I read through all of them. Gas cap is fine. I'll check the evap canister and selenoid valve this weekend.

hey dud check your gas cap--9 times outta 10 a major evap(evap gross leak on consult) it is a gas cap---you can check the cap--tighten replace what ever--and the light should go off after awhile--or after checking the cap--have the code erased---if it isnt the cap the lite will come back on.

For What??? it all depends on how many hours it takes them to diagnose the issue & how much they charge an hour---at my dealer we charge 105 an hour and it should only take 1 hour to diagnose and fix this issue unless it needs parts---are they going to replace your gas tank or what??

i wasnt pissed I was just asking a question---just sounds like the dealer was rippin someone a new one or they saw you comming--if the techs are nissan trained then it shouldnt take that long to diagnose an evap leak---and I am not saying that I am the greatest tech that ever lived---I am just saying that 600 dollars for an evap code--BS

The 4 times I had that code pop up, the only thing that solved it was cutting the tie strap off of the gas cap, then removing it from around the filler neck.
