2k2 Auto Max is stalling and dropping revs

I recently bought my 2k2 Max with about 70k on it. A few weeks ago it started to act funny. Like in the mornings when I started it the idle would drop to about 800rpm. I would press the gas to take off and it would have a delayed reaction with the pedal before the car would move, or go forward a little then drop the RPMs again before it would go. It has stalled out a couple of times too.
I explained this to the stealership, and they said they had a TSB for it (but still charged me). They replaced all of the ignition coils, and cleaned out the ignition system. 2 days later it stalled out again, and it doesn't feel like it's accelerating the same way it did before they "fixed" it.
Anyone have suggestions on this or hear about a similar problem? I'm going to take it back to have them look at it again. Hopefully I can get the rest of the work done under warranty.

[This is for a friend of mine.]

A TSB is not the same as a recall - so you will be charged for that work (if you are already out of the warranty period).

Sounds like a bad MAF to me.

You didn't state that in your original post. Go ask the dealership why the warranty didn't cover the coil replacement and tell them the MAF is bad and needs replacement.

Does the car rev past 2000-2500 RPM? If not, you have a dead MAF.

That's 99% bad MAF cuz I had the exact same problem when I was running SCer.

Thanks... so this has nothing to do with faulty ignition coils? How does the MAF go bad? I haven't messed with the intake at all, no mods etc.

If the revs are dropping when you hit the gas, it might be a misfire problem in one of the cylinders. I had a similar problem on an old car of mine around 65/70k miles. Check your plugs

it might be the Throtle Body, not the Maf, if you had a bad maf then your car would just die... I had my throtle body replace at 78k no problems after that.

Have the dealer try a different MAF and see if that works. 5.5 Gen Maxima's have had MAF failures with stock intake box too.
