I'm not sure if this is redundant, but I just received and installed the missing gasoline protector...

Here is what I found out:

There were 2 protector pieces that was listed, but I found that the smaller one was already installed.

Here are the parts that you need:

1 Phillips screw driver
1 protector p/n: 17290-2Y000
3 plastic snap clips p/n: 01553-09321 (or 17572-0B010)
1 screw p/n: 01451-00841
1 plastic clip for the screw p/n: 63848-35F00

the pieces that I did not use were:

1 smaller protector p/n: 76749-40U00
1 additional plastic snap clip p/n: 01553-09321
1 screw p/n: 01461-00991
1 plastic clip for the screw p/n: 76882-0M000

Note that if you do need the smaller piece, you can replace the screw and the plastic clip with another snap clip (01553-09321)

Here is a picture of the smaller protector that was on the car already...

And here is the larger protector installed...only the top part where it covers the drain hole is shown

Well, I dodn't want to bother...since I work at Peoria, I can only get back to my dealer (in Chicago) on the weekends...and they don't have Nissan Techs on weekends...I I just ordered the parts and did it myself.

It was a snap anyways. Better than arguing with them...IMO

Quite honestly, I would have just rigged up something myself if they didn't have the parts...a small piece of plastic can be used to wrap around the inner lip of the gasline area...it would have been quite simple...

Oh well...

My "kit" has arrived at the local Nissan dealer (although the service guy knew nothing about it until I told him about it). I hope to get in there next week and get it indstalled by them...and will let you know if there's any hassle factor (there really shouldn't be).

Has anyone found a dealer in Orange County, CA that actually knows about this. I called a few and the customer service reps were clueless.

Thanks

Try Irvine Nissan. Dunno if they "know" about this problem but they've been very cooperative with everything else. Ask for Sabina or Lance.
