so the letters just dont peel off? they need to be "sawed" off? Also, can anything else be used to get the adhesive off, such as regular household items.

you could use a degreaser, like orange clean stuff, but make sure you use it sparingly as it takes off your wax and exposes your clearcoat, and youd have to rebuff the spot with some fresh wax

the letters themselves will peal off...but not the adhesive tape. you want to heat it up so it losens up. and you are using the dental floss to get as close to the metal as possible. most of the tape will come off but you will need goo gone to get the rest

Hey there who posted their debadged Maxs, I meant the car looks whole lot better with the badge than with the downright ugly dealer license frame.

METHOD I:
Take a heatgun and simply heat the emblem. After a minute or two the emblem should loosen up and you can peel the ebmlem off.

METHOD II:
Use dental floss and slowly saw through the adhesive.

With either method, you will need to use GOOF OFF in order to safley remove any residual adhesive.

If you decide to go all out and shave the entire rear, I created a how-to for the hamburger HERE.

Shot sucks, but nonetheless:

I heated it up with a heat gun, then use real thin dental floss. I then used the goo off, clean it up, then used some scratch off stuff. I finished it up with some wax. See my sig for a pic.

thanks a lot guys. This is definately an easy mod I'll be doing in the future. It makes the trunk look much cleaner. I was just wondering where the goo gone could be purchased (hope depot? etc)

My friend and I just debadged his civic. All of the badges came off nicely, but the EX left like a peel in the paint and the paint color was mismatched. I am hesitant to do this mod.

Home Depot will have it or Walmart or Kmart or any hardware store.

Beware of faded paint....on my old 4th gen that I shaved the paint behind it was considerably darker then the rest the car...but I guess that depends on the color.

I'm guessing there is no way to reapply the badges? I like the idea, but when resale time comes it's no good.

ofcourse you can reapply, some 3M tape should do the trick, (or you can purchase the letters at any nissan dealer thats already have adhesive on the backs) just take proper measurements of where the letters are located, write them down and throw the measurements in a bag with the letters, put em in the box with all your stock stuff (bc any smart modder always keeps all his stock parts) and your good to go.

oooooooooooooo idea, does anyone have there stock 2002/2003 maxima letter badges they would like to sell to me? pm me if you do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fishing line works too cuz when i did mine the dental floss kept breaking- 8 lb test should do the trick. and goof off is a must

and i was wondering why 5th gen usually leave the burger? it was the first thing to go on my max. is it because the license plate frame is cut for it? i think MetalMaxima's is hot- just my .02

did anyone have problems with paint when they debadged? I'm nervous that the glue will leave marks on the paint, or will take the paint with it when it comes off. Also, that the paint under may be faded. If I see this, can I just reapply the badges?

because it isnt just on with tape. there are 2 plastic pegs on the emblem that go in to HOLES in the trunk. on my 00 i removed mine, filled in the holes, and painted it. on my 02 i removed the huge stock one and used a smaller one from a pathfinder
