Removing side vents
Removing side vents
Well, I googled the org like mad, but couldn't find anything on this. I'm painting various interior parts and can't figure out how to remove the side vents w/out taking the whole dash out. I started on the driver-side vent by taking out the kick panel and found one screw at the bottom of the vent. Had to unplug the 3 harnesses from the fuse box and used a stubby screwdriver to take that one out, but the vent didn't even feel loose. Anyone have experience in this?
Removed mine.
It was pretty easy.
I'll take a photo later to try & show you where the clip is.

Clip is onder the front corner of the vent.
You have to get screw driver onder it & pry it up.
You will feel it with the screw driver.
Good luck

One of mine had the lever break and was supposed to be replaced under warranty. The guy told me lucky I had the warranty because it was a 1.5hour labor job. They replaced it and cracked it during install and haven't gotten the right color back. Kind of a pain, but it's not like it's that noticeable.
Precisely what I was afraid of. Maybe it would be simpler to tape it off and make a "spray bag" to contain the overspray w/ an opening just big enough to get the can & my hand through. Then again, the black slats that control left-right air flow would get hit unless I slip some cardboard behind the up-down slats.
Hmm ... is it really worth it, or do I just leave them with the aftermarket woodgrain trim? Any opinions are welcome.
