I just got my windshield replaced, it cost $135 installed. Call around and ask for the cash price.

You could get a mirror on ebay for prolly $50-150.

That's definately B.S. I've never replaced a mirror on my maxima, but I did replace on on my 96 Altima and it only took me 20-30 min to do. You may have to take off the door panel and a plastic piece or two.

$92 for a new heated mirror. Do some google searching and you may find it for cheaper.

I got mine through Safelite.

I was in an even worse mood... One of my friends took out my SAAB when he was drunk and ran it over a curb into a mailbox. Broke me windshield, my mirror, dented my hood, blew two struts, and cracked my wheel... I wanted to kill him.

Do not listen to this man. F*@# Partstrain.com/Carmirror.com!!!!!
I just went through hell replacing my driver side mirror (a 2001 like you) after somebody smashed mine off one night. After being quoted $289 from the local dealership, i bought one for around $90 from carmirror.com aka partstrain.com.
My plan was to use the whole new assembly they sent me, and just pop on the outer shell from the original broken mirror so I would have to get the new one painted.
This thing they sent me..........looked like it was stolen off a car (probably returned from another unhappy customer). The black plastic triangle piece that sits against the door was not flush against the door, big gap on one corner, and looked like $@$#% (and the plastic looked really cheap, noticably different from the nissan mirror on the passenger side).
Around the glass, that trim there was all scuffed up and marked up. The underside of the mirror assembly had paint marks on it.Complete garbage they sold me. Ended up buying a mirror online from nissanparts.org, which had the lowest price i could find for a nissan oem mirror at $140. Got that, perfect fit/alignment, popped on the black shell from my old broken mirror and was good to go. $90 wasted.

oh, to replace it takes about 10 minutes. You need to remove the door panel, then remove the triangle sailboat trim piece that covers the bolts for the mirror. Remove the old mirror, bolt on the new one and plug in the electrical connector and put the door panel back on

Um, I was merely showing an example of what it costs and suggested a google search for alternatives. I'm not a pawn for parts train, I was just trying to be helpful to the poster of this thread.

Oh, and I got my mirror from ebay.
