Headers

I was bored today and decided to see how much I could find headers for..I saw some on Ebay for a little over 200 bucks. Now right now I have a stillen y pipe, and full catback greddy evo exhaust system, with headers will I see high gains? I'll still be emission legal too right? In other words, are they worth getting? Sorry if I'm reposting...

Haha I did do a search and all I found were talks about how stillen sucks, and about hotshots, but the ones I am looking at are not hotshot headers, so in a way this isn't a repost..Since stillen headers received such a bad mark, and hotshots cost 500, these seem like a good price, but all I wanna know is if it's worth it.

All cheap knock off headers on EBay for the 5th gen maxima are based on the stillen headers and thus suck major ***.

Haha I found these too, that price seems too good to be true..http://www.ssautochrome.com/level.itml/icOid/1433 I actually found these when I was doing the "search" on past threads about headers. I haven't seen any headers for a 2k-2k1 Maxima. To install the 2k2-2k3s it looks like a lot of work..Are there any write-ups or faqs?

I saw someone else on here that got those ebay headers and did a dyno that actually showed a slight loss. I'm not an engineer, but I know that the design of things like headers and the intake manifold is very important or you'll lose power.

Common sense would say that an engine would put out the most power if you simply make the exhaust pipe larger. This isn't the case though. The proper design will create a pressure wave which actually increases power. Same goes for the intake. Maybe someone with more engineering knowledge can comment here.

A good example is think about blowing air out of straws of different sizes as different exhaust size with you as the engine. Small straws requires more energy (restrictive) but lets out fast air flow, straws that are too large requires more energy just to maintain air flow. Of course it also depends on who is blowing the straw--engine size, to determine the right size.
