Read the onwers manual .. it's "normal" from 1-2k ... what grade of fuel do you use?

No offense pimpinmax, but could you restate the question in a more comprehensible manner?

I may have a similar problem. When you drive the car under 2K (which my wife does and complains about it! She says is preignition) the car makes a sound like a Pinging or a knocking sound. A quick stomp on the gas will make the sound go away. Will any damage occur if you were to continue with this noise.

Yes, i use 93 or higher, and I even brought it into the stealership (at my wifes request)-No problem found.
I changed out the plugs at 50K, the car has 86K at this time. Run techron cleaner every 3 months, but have used the BK stuff from Nissan once.

I am going to order a new MAF to see if it clears it up.
I was going to pick up the sea foam but didnt do it yet.

That sounds diff. than my problem. Sorry about the hijack-the "engine knock" caught my eye. I figure my pinging if from my local gas -it may be bad

Here is whats next:

1. Replaced PCV Valve with irishs "PCV Blowby Oil Catch Reservoir"
2. Order MAF from D.B.
3. Install my new Y Pipe (when i get my leg cast off),
possibly replace o2 sensors at that time.
4. Finally get it dynoed @ SPI Pwer Excell, $85/ 3 pulls (install new MAF between runs if he lets me)

I still wonder about the coil/o2sensor TSB for the 2000 Maxima - as I recall,
one of the symptoms was excessive pinging. A google seach will pull up lots of info on pingin in our engines.

sorry about going on.....

If I remember correctly, which I'm not sure of, it's something with the headers or header gaskets or even cats.
