Nope, nothing I would ever think about. I could care less if an Altima beat me. I am contemplating trading in my Maxima for a 2002 model if the rumors of a 3.5 liter 260hp engine is on it. I would love that, but haven't decided. I can't believe Nissan wants the Maxima to compete with Avalon. In my opinion the Avalon is butt nasty ughh. Hate it.

Trade my Max in for Altima - never! Might consider trading in the max for the more powerful 3.5l - 260hp max coming out in the fall.

Woah... this thread got all jacked up. I can't tell who said what and when. If you post in the same thread within a few minutes, make sure you have a different subject line.

For the hit I would take trading in...

I could get a supercharger. I think Kev has been discussing that fact with another member.

...

Yup, Paul calculated the cost and it was WAY up there. Let's say it was comparable to a Level 10 tranny rebuild plus Stillen SC.

And, we don't know how many problems the new car will have.

C'mon, that is like trading in your Camry for a Corolla or an I30 for G20, it's just no logical. Everyone knows that the Max is top of the line! Why trade down. As soon as you trade your max in for the Altima the new max will come out and make the alty look like doo-doo!

NEVER

i would never trade in my max for the altime
you should love your car.
there is never a best time to buy a car, new cars come out too often, you should love your maxima and i doubt that there will be too many of those altima's on the road, because most people buy the altime for its economic price and if you add that engine to it, the price you shoot up, so even if people buy the 240 altime, it might not be 5 sp, so i dont think it is such a threat

I don't really see the new Altima as a trade down. it will have a 3.5 VQ, larger interior, independent rear suspension, and less weight than a Maxima.

He!! No!

No way I'd EVER trade in my Max for an Altima. Rather put in the SC, then we'll see what's up!

Hmmm... Good point... Well, even if they put in a SC in the new Altima and smacked down my SC'd Max, it's still and Altima, I've gotten smacked down by turbo civic ex's. So, my point being, the Maxima will ALWAYS be Nissan's flagship vehicle. And I'll NEVER sell my baby for a WaNnA be Maxima!

How do you trade a new car?

I just bought a 2001 SE. Now I want the new 260 HP one. Am I just going to get screwed if I try to upgrade?

Are you going to lose $$$, of course unless Nissan decides to take care of their Max owners and offer incentives for us. I say just mod it with the $$$ that you would spend on the upgrade and enjoy your car.
