Word of Caution for 5.5 gen KYB GR2 owners

I just got off the phone with KYB (as well as several retailers) and it seems KYB now has different part numbers for the 02/03 and the 00/01 GR2 struts.

Technically, both strut sets are identical. The main difference is the ABS line bracket is slightly different for the 02/03.

That said, due to KYB's policy - they will not honor the warranty on 00/01 struts used on 02/03 Maxima's should something happen to them, primarily because of using the wrong part numbers on the wrong car.

To make it worse, the 02/03 specific struts cost significantly more than the 00/01's.

What's the chance the ABS line bracket difference is really going to cause any problems? I assume this is the bracket that connects the sensor wire to the strut right?

I think that's it. There's no chance it will cause any issues with the strut itself. However, according to KYB they base warranties on their cataloguing (sp?). So if the catalog says the part number for 2k2+ is different, then you cannot use 2k/1 parts on it.

I think I may have this problem, my abs line would not fit when I had mine installed. Used some plastics ties to hold it in place.
