HELP.....please post your thoughts
I have 3 dings in my door above the door handle and went to nissan to get touch up paint. i have icelandic pearl and told the guy that. he went and got me the base coat(white) and top coat(pearl). so i followed the directions and put both coats on waiting between time intervals, etc. well now the paint is dry and the pearl colors do not match at all. now my door almost looks worse than it did with the metal showing. and remember theses are pretty little dings but there is 3 around the same area(above door handle). how do you suggest i approach this and get them to fix my door paint for free? your help is greatly appreciated.

it will not get any better than that unless you have the whole door re-painted...
you have to remeber that the rest of your door paint is five years old and the stuff in the can in brand new. it is just "globbed" on, that is why I dont bother touching up a spot unless there is a risk of rust...
try covering a section of a brand new car for five years and then take it off, it will not match at all. thats why a lot of people do not use a bra on the front end anymore.

yep^^
furthermore, that paint might not even match a new car just due to mixing tolerances.
on another note, use a piece of sheet metal as a test area and compare before doing it on your car next time

theyre not really required to do anything at this point. you took it upon yourself to be a bodyshop man.
at this point, id try and get them to give you a refund on the touch up paint. thats your best bet, they might go for it. other than that i dont think theres much you can do. involving the body shop at that dealer will likely make it worse for you.
as someone said above^^, only touch up if theres a potential rust issue. also, consider using only a clear coat to touch up, unless you can get a paint thats a damn close match.
in fact, you might be able to go to an auto body shop and have them mix you a thing of touch up for your car.
hmm...

Hah! That's funny. I have a 2001 icelandic pearl, and had the same problem when some idot rubbed his front bumper up against my back bumper in 2002. Their touch up paint STINKS! I just lived with the off-color because it was a small area.
