TB High Idle Fix - Jump In Here

There are too many of us who have cleaned our TB's and then experienced high idle and check lights. I'd like to hear what was done to your Max to fix the high idle and what diagnostic code your car whas giving you?

My CEL is giving a P0507 code: IACV (Idle Advanced Control Valve)
Still not fixed.

New ECU under emmissions warranty solved my TB idle problem.

P0505

I got my P0505 cleared by replacing the IAC/AAC valve then running the idle vol learn at the dealership.

Now that's cleared...I pulled a P0138 "O2 sensor" Arrrgg !
When will it stop.

it wont. anything that generates heat or has moving parts is subject to wear and prone to failure.

...enjoy

I know there are several threads on this issue but we never hear about the fixes afterwards. I thought it would be nice to have one thread posting the codes and fixes. If u had the this problem you would welcome this thread.

traderfjp,

I have read in one of your post that you have a source for a "throttle body" for our 2002 maximas. I am having the same problem as you had. I wiped the throttle body clean when I changed my spark plugs and then when I had it running again the SES light came on and the code was a P0507. I tried the idle relearn, but it only works until you shut off the car and then it goes back to idling high. So, when I went to the dealer to get the tranny flushed I had them diagnose it ($70 what a rip off) and they told me I needed a new throttle body actually they called it an "ISC chamber". Anyway, if you or anyone else knows where to get a replacement throttle body besides from the dealership ($700) your help would be greatly appreciated.

dkp,
I have an extra throttle body in working condition for a 2002 Nissan Maxima SE that I can sell for $200. Or if you want, call up a few junkyards for one. The solution to my problem was a brand new ECU. PM me if you are interested and we can sort things out.

300 for a IACV? I paid 160$ directly from a Nissan dealership here in CT. But that didnt solve my problem, the stuck IACV also fried a part on the ECU so that had to be replaced ($700) from dealership but 140$ from junkard! I hate MAF, o2 sensors and IACV's haha

Well I found a throttle body at a junk yard for $140. I installed it just as I had taken it off the old intake even though it looked pretty dirty, I decided not to touch it. I think the dammge occurs if the butterfly valve is physically moved when cleaning, but I am still not going to spray any TB cleaner in there. It is idling where it is supposed to and not giving off any codes. I am happy, fornimage thanks for the advice and the offer.

I had this exact problem after cleaning my TB, it would not learn the idle after this and keep it between restarting the engine. The dealer charged me $150 for diagnostic and TB cleaning and it seems cured. They said it was sticking, and there is a specific TB cleaning procedure. Can't argue with it being fixed.

Does anyone have access to the FSM that would explain this "Specific TB cleaning procedure". I think it would save alot of people money, time, and worries. Especially since it seems they were able to correct the problem that you had caused by cleaning it.

Hey Guys,

This happend to me this weekend after cleaning the throttle body and moving the butterfly to get underneath. Brought it in to Nissan and they downloaded the Idle re-learn and it is perfect now. I spoke with the mechanic and he said this is the only way to fix the problem. They charged e $110 to do the procedure and it took approx 45 minutes. If you are thinking of cleaning your throttle body pay them the $100 to do it so you don't F*** up your IACV or ECM.
