Bad auto tranny?

I occasionally hear clattering from the front end (engine) between upshifts at lower rpms, but more so when the engine is under load (A/C).
I also hear a clunk when I hit the brakes while in reverse.

cluck sounds engine mount-ish... clattering sound like a flexplate cracked or something...

for the flexplate, while in neutral or park, turn the key off, and just before the engine stops, turn it back on. try not to let the car die. if you can do it and hear the noise then, its suggestive of a flexplate.
