Bosch Xenon Projector Retro (56k ...prolly not)

Hey y'all, I know that this subject is always talked about. But I just wanted to share some pics. After 500 miles of driving (long story) I finally met up with Roy in Brooklyn after thinking he was in BOSTON and got my e46 installed after driving around with his old MDX's for a week. I couldn't be HAPPIER with the Bosch E46s. You'll see in the pics of the cuttoff that the cutoff isn't nearly as sharp as some of the TSX modded retros going around here, and some of the other e46 mods. That's because of the squirrel spotter in my projectors! it's pretty cool though.. it defracts just a tiny splash of light above the cuttoff and to the right for easier viewing of signs and things. you'll see. ENJOY!

Beautiful

I wish the boschs put just a little more light directly in front of the car.. it doesn't start until a couple yards.. SEE: (notice a little splash of light directly above the cuttoff?)

Squirrel spotters look like this in the projector when off:

wall cutoff (actually brighter and whiter in person.. it's a little underexposed)

Down the road shot (not a good shot, will try to get another better one tonight):

wow that looks clean! i love retrofits soo much you have no idea haha on my accord i went thru like 6 retrofits cuz i got bored pretty fast =/ i'm kinda afraid to do retrofit onto the maxima headlights since they're so easy to get stolen i'm not sure if it's safe.

but none the less yours look friggin nice...have you thought of using the ece e46 ones? those are sharper if that's what you are looking for oh and they're easier to work with than the tsx ones too.

those ARE ECE E46 projectors. I'm happy with the cutoff and output. Some guys have there cutoff so sharp (not here soo much as on Hidforum.com)that you can't see ANYTHING above the cuttoff on dark roads at night. I like my squirrel spotters even if they blur the cutoff a little... besides.. they're not permanent ... they're easy to slide take of the projector.. By the way.. everyone.. PROPS TO ROY

Xtant, I think maybe he changed the LEDs in the eyes to make them brighter, I know there is a write up floating around here for it

I got an EXCEPTIONAL deal on ebay for some almost new Bosch E46 (3 series) projectors, Hella Generation 3 ballasts, and Osram bulbs. I paid 180 total for the entire set, plus 20 bucks shipping. That's pretty unheard of actually(hidplanet.com charges $425 for the same setup.. and that's not a bad price usually).. but if you search ebay you might be able to find this stuff for as cheap as I did. By using the money that I saved on the equipment.. I got ROY to install em for that PROFESSIONAL look... I guess to answer your question in a more direct sense.. it cost me:
Projector housings: $190 on ebay
Bosch E46 Projectors, Ballasts, and Bulbs: $200

you do the math.

I doubt it, but it isn't anyone's business who has purchased his services to disclose what he charges; at least that's my feelings. If I said he charged me $XX and then someone asked for the same and he decided his time was worth more it could be an "awkward" situation

Dr. Roy did upgrade my LED's, it just must be the pictures people are taking, because they're not at all noticeable unless it is dark outside and by then the TSX projector way overpowers anything else on the car.

so...it's YOUR fault I had to wake up at 6am to give Roy my old gauge cluster as he came through DC, instead of 6pm the day before when we were originally gonna meet. No biggie though

Lights looks great...I'm always interested in watching what Roy will do next.

Yeah Vinny, What's up. Yeah we met. I'm Ryan if you don't Remember. Roy is the man.. even if it did have to drive all over new england to find him on tuesday! I like your TSX setup ALOT.. Roy told me how you originally had the Boschs but were so frustrated that the cutoff sloped downwards that you went for the TSXs. He said you're pretty particular about your lighting.. I could tell that when you came over that night though. Haha.

Hey Ryan, what's up man. nice cutoff! Yeah, I did the Boschs but wanted the best and TSX are only the way to go. I had to open up the headlights to adj the projector to get a straight cuttoff line. That was a Bi**. Other than that, man I'm so glad I upgraded. How do you like the Boschs compared to the MDX?

To be honest Vinny, I felt like the MDX modded lightst that Roy let me borrow.. were not as good as I was expecting. I felt like I couldn't see very well. Although the beam of light is wide... the output is not very focused. I'm MUCH happier with the E46's if I had more money at the time of my purchase.. i would've gone for some tsx's.. but the deal on my bosch e46s was just TOOO sweet. All of the current japanese projectors.. put all of the german/european (valeo being french) projectors to shame. The TL, TSX, and S2000 projectors all light up the road like none other. For now i'm content with the E46's though. If i get another set, I might have to come to boston so you can help me with the retro.. seeing as how Roy is all the way in Brooklyn!

i feel you on that. As of right now, i am looking for some FX projectors, but they are pretty rare. They also have a lot of yellow at the cutoff but are suppose to be super wide and bright also.

If only we could fit ls430 projectors like zam from hidplanet...
