My reasons, in no particular order, were:

- Looks
- Price / Performance ratio is hard to beat
- Japanese name brand and made (reliability & reputation)
- Didn't really want an Accord or Camary since everyone else has those
- Didn't trust getting an Intrigue or Taurus
- Girlfriend needed a car
- Cars like it: 0

I love my SE!!

All of the above, and 'cause it has one the sweetest V6's out there - I love the sound of the engine at 4000 rpm above.

I wanted something bigger and badder (200hp minimum) than my Ford Escort (hey, you drive what the old man gets you until you can do better). having been hooked on the 5sp from said Escort, my choices were the sleek, sexy, and fast Maxima or something POS like BMW, Audi, etc... (POS = Priced Over Sanity in this case....). I have no regrets

Impulse buy...

I was pre-approved for financing with Nissan and needed a new car badly. I went on the lot and drove everything there other than the Pathfinder and Quest. There really was no question after driving the Maxima.

Because it is an affordable sports sedan

The reason I bought it was because it was a sports sedan that performs well and costs less than 30K, making it more affordable than the competition. I have no regrets either, a great car.

Simple...

Because it was there.

Actually, it was super easy 'cause I was turning in a 98' SE off lease so the financing was a slam dunk, they gave me a good deal as a repeat customer, I loved the other Max I had so why would the 2k1 be any different besides better (well, in most cases ), the 3-series was too small, the 5-series was just right except for the $$$, it provides an exceptional balance between performance, size and price, proven engine.

Yeah, that's about it.

Cheers!

wanted a 300 z since I was a kid.
Nissan stopped making it.
came up on an sc'ed 99 max a year and a half ago.
now I move just as fast and can carry twice as many.

I have always been a fan of Nissan. The V-6 is nice and the car has a sporty feel compared to other comps. If I did not live where it snows I would have bought a rear drive car though.

My Dad had a 98 SE Max that I loved. At the time I was
driving a 95 Integra and needed a bigger but faster
car...Looked at a Acura TL and hated it. Went across the
street at the Nissan dealership drove the Maxima and bought
it right on the spot!!!!!!!!!!!!! No regrets best car I've
ever owned

Actually Nissan did a good job on advertising. I got a new job and needed to get a car instead of my truck (better gas mileage was a major concern). I went with full intentions of keeping my truck and getting a sentra or something ... but after test driving the maxima. Bye Bye truck and make room in the garage cause a max is coming home.

I had in my mind that I wanted a max, but didn't think I could afford b/c like i said earlier i wanted to keep the truck. Well the dealer gave me more than expected on trade and came down the payments I wanted, so I signed the papers. It has more speed and power than I knew was available and it was a blast to drive.

Cars like it: 0 (that kept on racing through my mind through the test drive!!!)

Everything was perfect on this car for what I wanted (except for a 5 speed-but couldn't wait for it while the dealer ordered)

Hey, cuz I had a 98SE for 3 years and love the car, so for me it was the only choice possible since there is no other car with a decent price-performance-safety-look in the Max price range.

My next car will be either another Max 2003-2004 or a Porsche.

Cheers

I travel a lot for my company (I'm a United 100k flyer). After the first time Hertz put me in a Maxima, I rented nothing but. I fell for the car and bought one.

well...

the V6 Accord/TL just bored me to tears.. I actually thought the Accord was a good deal, the TL was an overpriced Accord (I know, thats not exactly true) and both had the most boring interior EVER... the body style also paled in comparision..

initially, I dismissed the max... we were buying our pathfinder.. I looked at the max while doing the PF deal, and I thought very little of it. but the sales guy asked me to come buy and drive one again.. and he made me a very good deal.. I started liking it more everytime I saw it. After about 3 visits, I had to have it...

I have always liked the Maxima since the beginning...

The first time I seen a Maxima was the first model back in 87. My best friend mom had a 85 Maxima and the first time I rode in it I thought it was the coolest thing. And now that i am all grown up and insurance would not let me drive a sports car, I went to the next best thing: 2000 Maxima SE

I used to have a 88 Camry and that thing was fun to drive cause it couldn't handle worth anything so everything I did was an adventure. After 250,000 miles, I decided to upgrade So I tested a Max and I remembered the first time I pushed the throttle on the Max On the Camry, I had to floor it to move and when I did it on the Max, I peeled out! Fell in love and bought the car

When I bought my 1st Max in 97 it was the only car with all of the following:

5 speed manual
sunroof
automatic A/C
I could get the car for under $25000
4 doors.
front drive (I live where it snows +++)

My option was a Volvo T5, which costs $10,000 more.
I love the Max and have stayed with it.
