oem plugs better than aftermarket????
i'm about to take my 2k se in for 30k mile service at the dealer and asked the guy there about upgrading the spark plugs to Splitfires which i heard were good. he vehemently recommended against it saying that the stock nissan plugs were platinum and are designed to last 60k miles.
he also mentioned that he's seen nothing but problems with aftermarket spark plugs.
is he just giving me nissan company talk or is that actually true? he seemed like a nice enough guy on the phone, so i've got some doubts about replacing them.

From what I've seen, splitfires are junk. The only plug that might offer better performance than OEM would be Denso Iridium (sp?).

The Denso Iridium Spark Plugs are supposed to be pretty good.
One of the other Moderators on our Accord V6 forum (BNut) dynoed his and got gains of 3 whp (peak) and 7ft-lbs (peak), but he also got gains throughout the entire rpm range of 5-6whp and 5-7ft-lb torque.
We've got a technical "Sticky" thread on this, so feel free to stop on by and check it out here: http://superhonda.org/board/showthread.php?threadid=777
This is one of the first mods on my list when I ever get around to doing any (I'm all stock right now)
I've heard that the Splitfire's are junk too...

I had splitfires in my old truck and took it to get a 15k tuneup. The showed them to me and they were so fouled I could barely make them out. The service manager said that the splitfires don't burn hot enough and they don't get a full combustion. Don't know if he was just blowing smoke, but he told me to stick with the stock NGK(think that was the brand). Never had any problems with them. Don't know how this relates but just my 2 cents on how to stay away from the splitfires.
