For those with Tein H-Techs / Tokico Blues Combos...

Anyone that has this combination, please if you could answer these questions - I just bought blues for my 2000 GLE and am pretty much set on getting the H-Techs because they seem to be middle of the road as far as drop/smoothness is concerned.

1. How smooth is the ride compared to stock (hitting bumps in road, etc..)?

2. How much of a performance (sharp turning / body roll) increase is there?

3. Will I most definitely need/want to get a RSB and FSTB?

4. If you could do it over again, would you change the springs to something else, or are you completely satisfied with your H-Techs? If you would change them, what would you change to - and why?

I'm running S-Techs w/ blues. They are soft and ride is little bouncy. If you like firm ride, go w/ different struts.

I have H-tech/Blues for two years now...ride is smooth but noticably stiffer than stockers and you WILL feel the bumps more on rough roads. Performance-wise...sharper turns, less body roll (I have rsb and fstb though). It is definitely a nice upgrade but do not expect it to be riding on rails. I have them along w/ rsb/fstb..it is way better than stock but could still be better, thats why I'm adding LTB.

how've your driving habits changed since you got the htechs/hp? as in...how do you behave around bumps and dips, you really have to slow down or no? seems like a mild drop like this wouldn't require much caution

I actually slow way down for a bumps and dips, it is a mild drop but it seems like this combo dont handle speed bumps quite as nice.

well i've already been trained to slow down at bumps and to watch for potholes, but what about say..when you park. do you scrape the curb? i'm guessing yes?

I have never scraped a curb in a parking...the h-tech does not lower the car enough to scrape a stardard height curb unless u have a lip or aftermarket bumper.

Definately.

I have h techs on stock struts the the springs are way stiffer than stock. Theyre not unbearable, but you can defintatly feel bumps and need to slow down for some. speed bumps are also a pain in the ***. other than that I love the H-techs. Theyre a good combination between ride height and ride quality. Also, I have an AE with the front lip, and I only scraped once when pulling out of a ghetto a$$ parking lot. I went straight out instead of at an angle....but anyway, I only scratched the under part of the lip. Ive never scraped on curbs or anything while parking though.

Thanks guys for all the input - ended up ordering the H-Techs because of it. Should be in next week!! Now if only tomato-racing.com would get their act together and get my front/rear lips in stock again...

I believe the HPs cause the bounciness because they have pretty stiff compression damping but little rebound damping. Can anyone else confirm that?
