instrument cluster too dim?

Hello all, have been away from the forums for a year or so since I got rid of my 00. But alas, I am away no more sinces I just purchased an 02 gle!

The first thing I noticed is that my instrument cluster looks very dim even at the brightest setting - much more muted than in my 00 and seems darker than the radio/hvac as well. The cluster in uniformally lit however so no bulbs out. Is there an easy fix for this or perhaps is it broken at all? Thank you in advance.

Yea, thats what I'm a little disappointed with. I remember when one of my friends got her civic, the cluster was so bright, I wish mine could look like that.

Good stuff, metal maxima - perhaps I can follow your procedure. But how do you remove the cluster?

You would not get as bright a response were you to do it using anything other than a hyper-white bulb. I am going to be doing a new version of this modification next month; I will be adding 2 more bulbs in a different position and a set of hyper-blue needles, but this method would work well should you choose to do so.

well there are 5 bolts in the steering column
there are 2 bolts holding on the panel below the steering wheel
there are 2 bolts holding on the panel outside the gauge cluster
there are 3 bolts holding the cluster in

pretty much you can figure it out as you go along, i did, and it feels good to know you can troubleshoot and problemsolve on your own.
though if you do have questions while you are doing it dont be ashamed to ask.

Can you guys tell me the OEM bulb size for the cluster lights? I only have one burnt out, but don't have the skill, nor patience to do what Metal Maxima did.

like Lontar1 said, go to Autozone, they are tons of help. just tell them your car and blah blah blah, they type in the stuff on the computer and give you the bulb size

i am not sure what the bulb size is, and i have not seen a sticky on it.
