How to replace MAF sensor
How to replace MAF sensor
2000 Auto GLE...
I ordered a new MAF sensor with the whole tubing (plastic piece too)... But I'm not to sure on how to install it... the only part thats giving me a dilemma is the MAF sensor has wires on it, how do i take them out and put the new one in?

Now the sensor itself is connected to a connector which you seem to be in a dilema. On the top of the connector on one side there is a locking mechanism -- take a flat screwdriver and push the plastic notch (in the center which has a groove) firmly down and them pull the connector up simultaeously, and the connector comes off from the sensor. Hope this helps, very simple, just find the groove on the top of the connector and dipress it firmly!!!
FYI, many of the sensors connectors are identical -- you could pick any connector to do a trial before going to the MAF sensor, if you are apprehensive.
You do not have to pull simultaneously. When you depress the connector with the slot, it should lock in the down posisiton when you have it depressed enough. Then it will lift right off. When you go to reconnect it, you will have to press firmly and when the connector is seated all the way down, the piece that was locked down from removing will snap back to the locked posistion.
