MAF Sensor Instructions...?

MAF Sensor Instructions...?
I'm getting ready to put the MAF in on thursday...
what's the procedure:
my guess:
1.) replace the maf unit
2.) disconnect the battery for 3 hours or so
3.) take it to the dealer to get reprogrammed????
right or wrong?
suggestions....?

2.) replace the maf unit
3.) keep the battery disconnected for 1 hour
4.) take it to the dealer to get reprogrammed- not neccesary but!!! i replaced mine like a month or so ago and will do reprogramming one these days.. it is not neccesary
