00 Cali EGR

I have installed the HS Headers, they have no provision for the EGR since they are designed for an 02-03.

I currently have it plugged off, so naturtally I have a SES light on. How can I trick the car into thinking it is fine? I dont want to reconnect it because the only shop that will touch it want $400 to fix it

Another Dumbarse idea I had, was to put a filter on the tube and let it suck fresh air.... is this a nono?

no, the reason you have a CEL is because the EGR temp sensor needs to see hot air. why not just weld the bung in. the only way i can see to trick it would be to bring in hot air through that pipe, or do some electronics work. ill look further and see what i cant find

okay... this MIGHT work, i highly doubt it will damage anything, but you are on your own. if i had this problem, i would try this if it were my car with no fears.

insert a 220 ohm resistor between the green wire on the EGR valve and the blue wire going to the EGR temp sensor. all those wires should be in close proximity of eachother.

and just a FYI, but when the ECM thinks its getting exhaust gas under cruise, when egr flows, and it doesnt, it tends to be lean, it MIGHT ping lightly. also... you WILL fail NOx emissions

...enjoy

thanks for the advice, as I said the place that would re-weld it wants like $400.... not worth it.

I would rather try resisters.

the resistance is too high for a 5V VREF to put too much current through a 220 ohm resistor. basically, youre going to use the EGRs commanded GND ckt to signal to the ECM that the temp sensor has hot air. the blue wire gets a lowered voltage signal from the EGR driver ckts GND, so the ECM only thinks its hot when its supposed to...

this should be pretty sweet...

OH and... small oversight on my part, the resistor you want is a 220K ohm.

reset the ECM and let me know if it works.

ok, another idea...

Can I put in an 01 ECU that does not have EGR?

i have NO idea, but i doubt it, usually theyre VIN coded, different modules need to see the same VIN or security code. but im not sure.
