Umnitsa HID FOGs installed...WOW

I got the prolumen kit, very sweet, no splicing necesary just plug and play, all i had to do was modify the fog housing rear cover to fit the new wires and it works like a champ,

i actually drove this morning with only the fogs on and was able to see fine, i would say they light up the first 50 feet in front of the car clearly, very happy customer here
this is the 6oook kit light is barely purplish/white hard to describe but its brighter then the stock HIDs

thanks matt

install...

I dont think theres a write-up on the install.... can you make a write-up or give us some more details on the modification on the rear housing. I want to do this mod and I'm sure it would be helpful for those that want to attempt this.... Thanx...

basically the new bulb comes with a rubber grommet built in

what i did is cut a 1 inch hole with a hole saw in the back of the plastic plug, and therubber grommet slid right in, looks factory and only took a couple of minutes

no real write up necesary

There should be 0 cutting.

To make it tidy, you can cut a single hole out the back.

EDIT: as Jeepik just mentioned.

what about temperature issue with the 5.5 gen fogs and cracking. are these hotter and will they eventually cause the fogs to crack? or better yet. crack more.

Does anyone have a pic of the bulbs and the connection. I always thought there was some modification that needed to be done in order to have hids. The price is about right too. Maybe its time to upgrade....

I have HID fogs too... I just cut and spliced my kit to fit thru the stock hole in the dust cover. I love the look, it goes with the DDEs perfectly and makes the car looked pissed coming down the road

i still can't believe how bright these things are...i mean i wouldn't go 10 feet with only my fogs on at night and the ones i have now (super plasmas) are a significant improvement over stock in the brightness department....but i hear more and more people who have HID fogs that say the same thing: that they can drive with just their fogs on...i'd really like to see them for real, because i'm sure the pictures don't do them justice.

I liked this mod back when I had my 02 maxima, never got the chance to actually do it though... I might do it to my 04 maxima.. the only difference is that my fogs are in my headlamp next to my headlight, so I'll prob look like the headlight is on..

but this mod is a must do... good job..

So the prolumen kit has a factory harness already spliced onto it? Any suggestions on ballast location?

Cuz the aftermarket scene isn't exactly flooded with plug-n-play options for 5th-gen Max's. Most of the time you either adapt a part from another year, make your own Home Depot mod, or wait until some kind soul like Umnitza takes mercy on us and designs their own product.

What would the repercussions be if I drove with just my fogs on (as bright as these would be), and my angel eyes only at night? You think I'll be pulled? The angel eyes are bright enough also that it would seem light the headlamp was on, but still dim.

around here, you'd definitely get pulled over, since it's illegal to drive with only fogs + parking lights (or angel eyes). not to mention that it's illegal to have HID fog lights in the first place. Who knows how it is where you are, but it's a federal DOT law....

Thanks, just curious cause I've driven like this before, and wasn't harrassed of course in the daytime. I figured I'd be asking for trouble if I tried this at night with the HID fogs.

I just wonder if that's what happened to mine. My passenger side bulb is cracked, but doesn't have a chip on the outside like a rock would leave.

My fogs look yellow when they're on, and really aren't all that bright. Also, my high beams look yellowish to me. My low beams are awesome (coming from someone who has never had HID before - so maybe not as nice as some of these aftermarket HIDs).

Do the 03's with HID lights (yeah, I know that all 03's have HID) come with HID fog lights too?
