is 5th gen clutch soft or do i need a new one?

i drove a few other sticks lately and noticed all had a nice stiff and solid clutch, even a 4th gen. and when i bought my car at 73k (clutch should have still been ok) even then it was kind of soft, catching in the low to mid range. im woundering do the 5th gens have a real smooth and non violent clutch for comfort, because it never jerks even when it stalls, or do i just need a replacement? it doesnt seem to slip at all when i hit about 40-50 in 4th or 5th gear and floor it the speed seems to accelerate evenly with the revs. any input? thanx.

I've gone through 3 nissan clutches so far. When I got my car stock, the clutch was pretty stiff and had a nice feel but it warped at 6k and was replaced under warranty. The second clutch lasted me until 103k miles and was noticably softer.

The current clutch that nissan gave me is soft as butter (not to my tastes). Personally, I prefer a stiffer clutch, but I guess nissan is recommending the dealers adjust the clutch for a softer feel to improve durability?

When I first got my car the clutch was soft as hell, now that I drove the car hard a bit at times, it has gotten stiffer. My brother just got an 02 with 20,000k and when I lift my foot off the clutch, it seems like nothing is there.

my clutch isn't exactly STIFF but it has plenty of resistance..my dad's mini cooper's clutch feels a bit more mushy than mine and doesn't release with much resistance like mine does...

I was thinking about this and I think it all has to do with how much pressure the dealer puts into the clutch lines. Maybe nissan is recommending less pressure now? Mine is soft beyond belief esp compared to the m3

i beleive cable type clutches are adjustable.
mine is pretty soft too. if you want somethig sportier, you could always upgrade to a 6 or even4 ***** clutch plate. that will bite in right away, as soon as it engages the gear.
