new tires, sloppy handling????
new tires, sloppy handling????
i got new tires yesterday they are goodyear eagle F1 GS-D3. i got them in sizw 225-55zr16. a little larger than stock. i wanted to go a little less profile but he said they dont recoomend it something with the speedometer, but the car now turns and breaks amazingly well, but at highway speeed, takes a lot longer to react to steering wheel inputs, and it feels like the front turns, than the back turns it feels like weird, hard to explain. but do you think stiffer springs would fix this??

Give your tires time to break-in. Brand new ones still have the coating that prevents it from sticking to its mold.
Drive it around "gently" for several hundred miles and see if it improves.
On a sidenote, the F1's may also have a softer sidewall - so it might be flexing when you make those quick maneuvers.

1) Did you have the stock 215/55-16 size before? If so, you now have a slightly taller sidewall that will tend to be a bit softer laterally. (As well as possible differences in the construction of the tire as a previous poster noted.)
2) Did you check the pressures? Installer may not have inflated them correctly. Also you might like to try running 3~5 psi over the Nissan spec to see whether you prefer a little better responsiveness at the cost of some increased ride harshness. (but be sure the cold inflation pressure does not exceed the limit printed on the sidewall of the tire.)
3) Those are directional tires; check to make sure they were installed correctly. If not get it corrected ASAP. (Installers do get this wrong occasionally, it has happened to me.)

This is to help compensate for the added pressure the tire receives when compressed from a bump or hit.

Keep in mind you check the pressure in the morning BEFORE you drive it. Additionally, you went with a larger tire size and a different brand than the Bridgestones that came with the car, so I dont know if the 33FR 30Rear apply. But I'm sure 49 is freaking high.
Oh just to let you know I bought the Eagle F1's also and couldn't be happier! They put them on the new corvettes which helps them stick to the ground. They replaced the $80 wal mart brand tires a dealer put on them.
