Sorry to bring back an old thread but ive been searching forever. I just purchased a AVN 5435. I found out where the Speed Sensor wire was, but my friend just installed this in his WRX and says you need to find a Reverse wire too.... Where is this in our car?

Awesome Igor, can't tell if that is the 5435 or 5495, but I just had the 5435 installed the day after Christmas. I agree with you, nothing beats it, wonderful head unit!

Or you could go the more mainstream and often criticized route:

*drool*

I want this.

By the looks of it, though, I lose my AM/FM radio don't I? I imagine I also lose casette... but I've never played a casette in my Maxima so who cares?

Would suck to lose AM/FM though.

You do not lose AM/FM, but yes, you do lose casette - however, this isn't 1985, so you should be ok.

Sweet! I'm definitely sold (once I can convince myself to spend the money on something I don't *really* need, but would love).

I'm looking at the AVN7000 with the 20GB mp3 hard drive and the hidden screen that comes out at the push of a button.

Hey Igor (or anyone else who has installed this), how is the installation? I don't have any experience with fiddling with my Maxima's stereo... still have the stock Bose head unit and speakers on the GLE. Will this be way beyond my ability or are the instructions clear enough for a novice?

How's the sound quality in comparison to the stock stereo?

Did u need to replece the Vents with a different peice to let it fit or did u just take the radio out and buy a peice that was the size of the stock radio size. Im asking beccause my vents above have the wood trim peice so i really wouldnt want to remove it......

where did you guys put the GPS antenna?
I put my in the front right corner by FM/ AM antenna wire, I think it causing too much static for the fm/am radio. I have talk a pro installer and they say it shouldn't cause any static for the radio.

Its not a difficult install, in fact not much more than a standard aftermarket radio. Although If you purchase one I would recommend letting the dealer you purchase it from do the install. 3 year warranty and a year of theft coverage.

Up in the dash, no need to see that thing.

Theres no reason why it should cause radio interference.

Its all good, I wish I lived closer to alot of people. $450 is VERY steep for a simple install.

Hey I have one more question during the install. I havent had my steering wheel controls since I changed out my stock headunit and I miss them. I noticed the Eclipse has a connecter, what do I do to make it work? Is the only solution the pac swix?
