There is a PAC SWI-ECL.
No need for infrared repeaters, etc. Fully hardwired.

Steering wheel controls, eclipse specific.
I know it is good for the 8455, so I'm 90% sure it is compatible with the AVN-5435.

it has a close button but it's only active when you hit the eject button. 2 step process...I've never really had a need for the close button anyways because once you insert a DVD/CD it closes up by itself.

Def. a GREAT unit. =)

and I was correct .. whats the point in a close button if nothing is open? You open the face and need to close it, press the now appeared close button.

No doubt. Eclipse makes the best. I had a 5342 in 1997, and later sold it to my brother in 2000. he STILL has it in his Olds, and it still sounds incredible. there's been no complaints, and if any issues crop up, the local dealer who sold me the unit has always worked with me and him to resolve it. Eclipse also regularly wins CES show awards for quality, innovation, and design. Another sign is that Eclipse is typically referred to as a "competition-grade" or audiophile quality product. you get every cent you pay for with the brand, and I wouldn't hesitate to ever get their HU over another brand.

THERE IS a close button...tis' on the screen AFTER you press the eject button. it's dumb and you really shouldnt' worry too much about. REALLy..when you see it, you'll wonder why you even thought so hard about it.

yeah your right, just wanted to make sure i was getting the best out there. as far as fitment goes...did you have to do anything to fill in the gaps the unit leaves? i have a fourth gen so i was just wondering what others have done.

Use some ABS plastic to fill in the gap that the AVN leaves. Shown here in a 5th gen, but works the same for a 4th gen.

Also, to a local orger

Yes thats the ABS, but the newer units .. 5500/6600,5510/6610 come with the trim already. No need to add ABS.

thanks for your informative post!

FITMENT is great with the screen...just make sure you use the right mounting holes on the headunit. I had mine sitting EXTREMELY FLUSH with the GXE KIT. Looked great. Had the gap on top. Only problem was that it didnt' have enough room to open and close. SO i used the next set of mounting holes on the headunit and it worked fine. If you need help I'm sure don can install this for you or nilesh or I could throw it in for you. But if you get it installed by don you get the 3 year warranty ftw.

definitelly get this unit from Don fellas.

i originally purchased a 5435 from Don and about 6 months later it got stolen.

Eclipse replaced it with no issues (theft protection, i don't think it's available anymore).

anyways, the unit eclipse sent us was defective (dvd drive wasn't reading the map disc, lol).

and guess what?

Don called Eclipse and replaced it with a BRAND spanking new eclipse AVN5500.

now don't hesitate and call the man, Don aka pearl96max.

oh yeah, good luck getting an appointment, will take a while, he got way too many clients.

ahha!
