anyone recently purchased/installed injen intake?

I ordered and recieved one (yes finally, after having a maf failure on freeway, plus running the coat hanger GAB for quite some time, plus got a pay raise....) in late july from customenterprise.com, aka custommaxima, and the maf adaptor is now injection molded black resin/abs plastic. This plastic adaptor looks to pretty much be the same material as the factory maf tube. The rest of the intake tubing is still chrome/polished finish metal. One thing I did notice was that there are built-in or integrated airfoils on the interior of themaf adapter. I know for sure it is to swirl the incoming air for a more laminar flow. And no, I haven't had time to install it yet, but will try this thursday.

Do you guys with the aluminum billet maf adaptor have these integrated airfoil? I suspect not since it would be quite costly to machine these 4 airfoils on the interior surface 90 degrees apart on a billet aluminum.

I've been driving the max on stock airbox and factory filter since getting maf sensor replaced...dang, it is to darn quiet now.... and response at 40 mph+ in 3rd gear @ 2000 to 3000 rpm is quite civil compared to GAB w/ coat hanger @ those same conditions. I do miss the intake roar... hopefully the injen can bring back the WOW! factor. On a side note my younger bro's scion tc sounds really sweet @ 4000 rpm with an injen intake, but still can't beat the pull of my max's 200+ lb-ft of wheel torque at the same engine speed.

The GAB vs Injen gains are probably nothing ... So the GAB is chepaer and you get the same gain .. though the injen will be louder.

yea injen is louder....good luck on install when I did mine, they have a couple of bolts that are hard to get to on the MAF tube....

All I love about the injen is the loud growl it has on 6-speeds as it's approaching red line. You guys know what im talking about? Everyone in my neighborhood things my car is boosted just because of the sound the intake makes and how the car moves Imagine when I really am boosted, they probably will think im using nitrous on regular city streets. LOL.

I get alot of looks with mine, not even wot.....at about 3k rpm it growls I love that sound...

i did not see the physical comparisons on previous posts/threads so i'd thought i ask. if anyone care to guide or point me to a thread showing the physical differences between the billet and plastic maf adaptor tube as i mentioned, please do so.

I may put in y-pipe & b-pipe later on to free up the exhaust end.

And like I said, i got a simple raise, and so i thought I spend it on the engine since leaving it untouched (in terms of mods) for awhile.... last recent mod was powerslot rotors front and rear with hawk pads up front and stock pads in rear. Gotta put the abs to use sometimes just to see if it really does work.

By the way, the GAB w/ clotheshanger is good in terms of cheap or nearly free performance upgrade, i don't doubt it one bit.... but in terms of preventing environmental contamination, it doesn't seal too well.... when i removed the k&n filter for cleaning and saw there was a lot of junk on the wire screen of the maf tube and had to a vacuum cleaner with small enough vacuum hose to clean the debris out.

I like the way a car sounds with a few mods.....you like to stay sleeper...I want people to know that my car can kick the **** out of them.....

injen is only good for looks (arguable) and bragging rights (with ricers)

as soon as I sell me current car and buy a 6spd...I am ordering them in about a week

i love the sounds mine (ebay injen lookalike) cost less then the injen berk or frankencar,

Stable intake temps > popcharger....but power wise the difference is splitting hairs

injen is nothing to brag about unless the people you talk to know nothing about max's (which is actuall 99% of the general public)...when they ask "what kinda intake ya got?" and i respond "place racing" they always ask "why not aem or injen?"
