question about i30/i35 and the maxima

i really like the analog clock on teh i30/35's and from what i can tell, the whole dash is the same as the maxima's except the different style of AC vents and clock.... would I be able to put the i30/35's whole dash into the max???

Lot of custom work I would expect. Could get really pricy. If you know someone who will do a professional job then I say go for it, but if your going to do it, if you don't have experience it would be a heafty job. If it even will work.....

call daveb, and see how much the piece would cost. You'd be a trailblazer for sure....I was just admiring the I35 dash in a car next to me today...love the analog clock and top storage compartment (if you don't have navi)....

You only get the top storage compartment on the A33 I30s. The non-nav I35s don't have a pocket.

Also something to consider, the dash, at least the center part, is wider in the I30/I35 than the maxima (and also the reason why the Metra and Scosche aftermarket stereo install kits for the maxima won't work for us). I don't know if that means the entire dash is wider as a whole, but that may mean some difficulty in swapping (if one tried to change it over completely).

That plus the extra sound insulation are the two things that make that sometimes make me wish I had sprung for the I35 instead of the Max. But at the time, the price difference was like $5-8k. But now with the Infiniti brand gaining recognition, I see that I35s are holding their value much better than Maximas. Plus Nissan resale took a hit when the reliability/start-up problems at the AL plant tainted the entire brand.

If you have the money to do a custom dash install like that then do it. Other then that I would say keep admiring, but Nissan is better that Infiniti. I don't like all the luxury. That is just me however.

Yeah, I couldn't imagine driving such a non-luxurious car as that BMW in your sig....

btw, how is a base I30 any more luxurious than a loaded leather GXE maxima, exactly?

meh, maybe...

grey market cars arent that unpopular, but if they called an M7, then why call it an M740il?

thats like buying an M5 and saying my M540i or whatever...

OKAY... and some research... M7 is still in concept, and would have a V12 (i.e. NOT the 740s 4L V8, just as i suspected. seriously, would you put the 4 cylinder in a M3? thats right )

Although grey market cars exist in America, since my step dad imported a Japan-spec 3000GT and V12 Jag in the early 90's, but importing something that doesn't exist is impossible. And I am pretty sure there wasn't such a car since my family is BMW loyal, with a 750Li in the garage now, and a X5 coming.

they wont ever make an M7, simply because it is just too big to be a race car. On the other hand the 760i and Li are very very fast, but will never be able to run through the twisties like the M3 and M5.

I do agree tho Mass_Media.... those 760s are a blast to drive. Blows every car outta the water that trys to pass you

The Infiniti is nice. The fit looks good. The width of the center console may be an issue though.

Actually the car is stock with no aftermarket parts. Only thing that the factory put that says M on it is steering wheel skuff gaurds and under the license plate. I assure you I wouldnt taint my car. You dont see any aftermarket parts on my maxima, why would I stain a BMW? It simply is the 740il with the m-sport package. As for german rice rocket.... words can not discribe my humor at the comment. It is my company hauler. i.e. for clients. My maxima is for general driving.

Ummm..ok? The M-sport package on all BMWs and previous ones have been just changes in wheels, suspension, steering wheel, and seats. There is no engine modification as you stated in another thread. But whatever, it's your car.

GT-R?

you mean you cant fit a straight 6 in the max?

what about a Q45 type-r motor...

anyway, back on topic... one of them anyway...

park, 0-60 in the 6s? thats not that fast, cayenne turbo does it in 5.5, a tick quicker than a boxster S... and THATS a lot of car.
