auto headlights reaction time change

anyone know if there is a way or something you can buy to make the auto headlights come on quicker when less light is detected? i know like BMWs when i drive them to be detailed into the car wash there reaction time is about 5 sec..where as ours is about 30 seconds. thanks

depends on how fast you can move your hand...just flick them on...then wait until you turn your car off to turn them off so that they dont flash on again when you pass through the auto mode...that's what i do...

if you put a little bit of tinted film over the sensor they will come on quicker

This thread gives information on tweaks that can be done, including adjusting the sensitivity of your lights. Unfortunately it looks like it requires being hooked up to a diagnostic computer.

some people, more of those who have xenons, would rather have a longer reaction time due to the xenon lamps "warm up" time. when going through tunnels, we don't want the lights to turn on and when leavin the tunnel 7 seconds later, shut off. kills the life of the bulb. you on the other hand can just leave the setting to ON and never touch it again.
