6spd 350z tranny in a 2000 maxima se??

i'm looking for a new tranny right now for my car and what i've found on ebay is the 350z 6 speed tranny. not sure if this will make the car faster/slower compared to the factory 5 spd tranny. also, what would be needed for this work?

it would be tough to do....especially since we have a transversely-mounted engine and the Z is longintudinally-mounted. In any case why would you want to? The gearing on our 5sp is set up for our engines, while the 6sp Z tranny has different gearing/ratios....

You just hijacked a thread anyway.

i would strongly suggest you delete this off-topic post before they ban you. Then you won't be able to post at all. You have to have 15 posts before you can start a thread. There are plenty of tint threads, look around.

it's not what i WANT to do, but it's all i can find. i would rather just get another 5spd tranny because last time i rebuilt my tranny it cost 2300 including labor. right now they are quoting me 1200 labor not including parts, and i have a bad 3rd gear synchro and who knows what else. if i can get a used tranny for 700 bucks i'd much rather do that. sorry for this GAY thread, seems like members just want what THEY are interested in instead, don't post and just shut up

Read the FAQs, search using before starting a thread if you're not planning to be a supporting member (which would allow you to use the search function, among other things). Don't hijack someone else's thread, it's rude and you will get banned.

The answer to your question is, you must use a transmission from a 95-01 Max or 96-99 I-30. It may be hard to find a good used one, but they sell new ones as well. The 350Z is rear wheel drive; completely different.

Learn how to drive, seeing how you blew up the tranny 2 times now, makes you a n00b. 350Z tranny will bolt up to the engine, but you will need to notch the frame rail and add some fender flares to cover up the tail shaft housing- it will stick out a little bit.

350Z tranny will NOT work. Rear drive is an entirely different setup. Not even close.

bought the car used that came with a tranny from a 2001 maxima. it had junk hard writing on it as well. it was only a one owner before me, and i haven't blown TWO, i blew the first one but apparently the car has been worked on prior to my ownership. who knows what could've been done to it by the first owner. also had a performance clutch in it and i had no idea of this. trust me, i know how to drive my maxima, i don't need to learn.
