New maf, smooth accelaration!

I been hearing about people replacing their maf which made a noticeable improvement in terms of performance. Now I think my stock maf is fine but I decided to upgrade to the updated version anyway. Just installed it today and right away I notice better throttle response and performance. My car also seem to idle quieter as well. The part # for the updated maf is
22680-2Y001...

yesterday was the second day I drove my car with my new maf. Before whenever I use my AC the car seem to be lagging and running slower then normal. But yesterday during a high 80's day with AC on the car still ran good with more power and no lagging what so ever. I'm glad I finally switch to a new maf because my old one must have been starting to died but I didn't get any cel.

If your MAF is plugged in when you start the car there shouldn't be a CEL. If there is then you probably should get the code pulled.

Also, unless your MAF is blown or significantly dirty a new MAF will make only negligable differences in performance. When my '00 MAF blew I knew it had and the difference between the old and updated was night and day.

Ok so your saying the light wouldn't come on if the MAF was bad i mean the car is still very fast

so i did rest the SES light if it comes back on i'll pull the code

From my personal experience there was no CEL for the MAF if it goes bad. I do know that the light will come on if the car is started without the harness connected. I think your plan sounds fine.

where's the cheapest maf to get the "updated" Maf... isn't that model # a 2001 Maf?

Well anyways.. I think my Maf is going bad soon cuz the acceleration is weird sometimes and I think a new MAF wouldn't hurt if it's cheap :-D

Yes, but you need to transfer the IAT sensor from the 2k2 MAF to the 2k1.

you will also need an ecm update as outlined in the tsb

Where is the part number located on the maf's. I have a 2001 maxima, so I am hoping I have the "best" one on there rather than the "better" one.

Is it really necessary? Epacy and some others didn't get an update and they seem to be fine.

It does not seem like you need an update for the 02 sensor replacement. I hear the update does widen the allowable range input from the sensor thus accepting broader values without popping a CEL.

I still haven't received any 02 related codes sine I replace mine and just reset the ECU.

I think I remember reading that as long as you have emissions warranty, nissan has to update your ecu for free.

I'm at 60k and the dealership is charging me ~$100 to reprogram the ECU.

How long is the emissions warranty good for?

I've just got my new MAF in the mail (I live in Oz), and it came with a piece of paper saying "This unit requires special ECM reprogramming of the vehicle". It does say US Only at the top, but does this mean I have to get the ECM reprogrammed, or is it only desireable?

I didn't reprogram my ECM when I replaced my MAF with the updated one. It's been close to a week since I put the new one in and it runs fine.

this is what i'm wonder too! i put a 2k1 MAF in my 2k and my car runs poorly. what do i tell them to update? they already updated it but it seems like when putting a 2k1, you gotta do something with the thermastat sensor, or is that just the 2k2-2k3?

Just took it for a drive after installing the new MAF. It certainly fixed the weird idling, it now sits at 850 instead of around 1200 in park and doesn't stutter and almost stall anymore.

I agree new maf, smooth accelaration. Having my ecu reprogrammed really helped mine. Now I know there is a big talk about ecu reprogramming (to do or not to do) but I could definately tell after I got mine done.

I recently put a new maf in, and did the ecu reprogramming. but I noticed that the transmission vent tube was just hanging. Is it suppose to be like that or does it connect somewhere? I have looked everywhere and couldn't find out where it connects to (if it connects).
