changed my slipping transmission... :-)

sup guys,
if you remember, i am the guy who had a maxima with a slipping transmission in all gears and not working reverse gear. this all was 4 days ago. now, i just parked my car in the garage and got upstairs to inform you all of my work. many of you may not care, but for those of you with slipping trannies and some mechanical skills i will make a wwrite-up real soon with all the pictures. trust me it is worth doing instead of paying $1892 (or somewhere around there) at the dealership. the whole repair cost me $671 (filter, fluid and few misc. items included). it took me 14 hours to do, but i spread the work over 3 days. all i had were sockets, wrenches, 1 sh*&ty hydraulic jack, 4 jackstands, and 4 maxima jacks... anyone interested in a write up PM me. thanks.

and of couse the tranny and torque convertor i got from a dismantling yard seems to work just right. used a B&M synthetic tranny fluid and Fran tranny filter. the tranny only has 5K miles on it, but i decided to change the filter also (why not, the car is already taken apart?)...

MUST SAY: thanks to Hal and his 5spd conversion writeup whiich i used a part of to do my installation. i must say there are a few parts where i had to find another way, but overall hal's writeup helped me a lot. and of course thanks to the forum for the stickies.

ok, i have to go take a shower now and go look for Civics to humiliate...

Woah, congrats man. I'd like to see the write up. I'm nearing the end of my powertrain warranty and I am considering buying extended warranty incase something like this were to happen. If it can be fixed like you said, I may hold off on the warranty.

I'm pretty sure he swapped the tranny, not fixed it by his costs.
