its time for some new stuff

is it just me or has everyone hit a brick wall with accessories, i mean real tasteful accessories, i wana see some new stuff come out for our 5.5 gen maxima's, i wana see some new tasteful lip kits i wana see engine compartment dress up kits that are not tacky, i wana see new grills come out that i might want to see on the front of my maxima. have most of these large accessories stores forgotten that the maxima is a popular, beautiful car. how is it that there are soooooo many options to dress up these little pt cursers and XB's but not to much to choose from for our maxima's?

thanks for hearing me out guys, let me know if im the only one who feels this way

Jim

word. bug you've been asking some good questions lately, and pulling a few cards. between this and telling redmax to put up or shut up with the bumper, i second both of them.

i for one am not putting anything on the market on my car. i have everything i found to fit my style, and am at a dead end. new front bumpers in stock and a new 02+ grille that looks like it belongs on the car would be on its way if i found them.

i know in my area there a shhit ton of 4th gens kitted up, and theyve got parts for days to pick from. either its that the 5th gen isn't popular yet or it still hasn't been out long enough. g35/350z guys have got alot to choose from, but thats because the car was meant for that, ours is still driven by enough soccer moms to warrant not providing the manufacturing support. we need to petition companies that supply the style we want, and show them they can make a profit. i had spoken to motostorm about making a grille 6 months ago, and they brushed me off. maybe it's time to have another sit down with people like that as the market has grown since then.

the problem is some companies have gone out of their way and they get burned. everyone wants more header choices, more body kits, etc. when they come out, everyone has an excuse why they cannot buy. there are are your loyal members that support the community and a handful that ask more and never put up. i am not suggesting pointing the finger at any particular persons/groups here. however, from what i have seen and experienced, i personally could/would not put up with the buyers from here. everyone wants the best quality and fastest shipping but no one wants to cough up for it. just my opinion. maybe the enviroment will change as more and more members are established but attitudes rarely transform.

There's only a shortage of accessories if you have to BUY everything. Try making some custom stuff yourself. Try coming up with some new designs - get something made especially for you. Try thinking of "new" ideas that nobody has done before - get your parts from Home Depot, crafts store, whatever.

The little things add up...I blacked out my grill and emblems (cost: $3 in paint)....the shifter surround and AE **** are blacked out (same paint) Some painted mesh BEHIND your factory grill adds a subtle bit of style without looking "aftermarket"...things like that!

Even better....start working on performance accessories. There is no shortage of performance pieces you can put on.....

some of the "small" things I was talking about (just some ideas for you, even if you don't like em)

shift ****/surround blackout, redline custom stitched shifter/ebrake boots and aluminum pedals:

blacked out the gray window switch trim:

lighting color change:

blacked out side markers

blacked out grill with backing mesh and Hella horns

There are a few write-ups around the org. I have a basic one on my website too. I got them at Radio Shack and eLEDs.com...make sure you get 60mcd, not those bright 10,000mcd ones they sell on ebay for cheap.
