Help - Brake ?

Hey guys, quick question.
I bought Power Slot rotors for front and back and replaced all the pads with Hawk Performance pads. I put about 800 miles on them. The brakes are making that common screeching sound as if they are bad when ever I press the brakes. Is this common for this brake combo because of the type of pad?

1. Did you use any anti-squeal compound on pads/shims?
2. Did you clean out the paid retaining cliips and lube them so the pads can slide easily?
3. Did you make sure the caliper pins were able to slide freely?

I don't know. I had a shop install them. I was concerned so I called the shop and asked them about the noise problem and I was told that it is just the rotor pad combo. That it is metal to metal and that is why it makes noise when you brake. I still feel the noise is a little extreme. Do you think they are right or do you think they just did not do some of these steps?
Thanks

I find it hard to believe that severe squealing is normal under any circumstances (unless you use absolutely cheapie pads - which you didn't). The only characteristic of performance pads (that I know of), is they tend to bite better when hot and exhibit less fade... shouldn't be squealing...

Then again, I'm not sure how bad your squealing really is... IMHO, squealing brakes indicate poor installation (especially in your case, where both pads and rotors were replaced).

That's what I thought too. I'm taking the car back to them.
Thanks
