what is the best/cheapest mod to get low end power for an 00. an intake gives you high end power, correct? tell me what you think.

best mods that i have done that i felt benefited low end power/response are udp, timing advance, 15.5 lbs wheels, removing ac belt (only during cooler months for obvious reason) and removing intake for a ported stock air box. you really dont want to open the cans of worms about intakes around here. i would suggest reading the faqs about peoples opinion. the only time i personally would run an intake again would be to use a larger maf tube (3")and tune with my vafc2.

How do you remove the AC belt at all? Alternator won't run/charge the battery.

I kind of miss low end grunt too, my last car was a breathed on 01 Regal GS....about 390-400 lbs tq from that beast (about 100 higher than the HP rating...pulled like a diesel would roast the tires from a 20 mph roll.....too bad for those gas prices) But I couldnt rev it to 6600 RPM w/o blowin it up LOL

3.5 swap... jk

i just did a UDP and i felt it had a positive effect (matched with GAB and y-pipe). I did notice that when i removed my k&n cone filter and swapped to the GAB, My top end didnt breath as freely but my low end from 2k to 3k had more "grunt" to it. You can definetly feel the change in power band.

Run a smaller belt that runs the Alt only.

i thought about doing this, but when it rains, or foggy, you need the dehumidified ac air to defrost the windows properly. i think the only time this would be useful is September-October, when it hardly rains, and cool enough at the same time.

last year, i ran it from october to june of this year. it is quite humid here which caused a problem in june but i only needed heat in the cooler months to defrost the windows.
