How many fuel pump failures ?

Well my fuel pump is on its last legs, it makes weird sounds and it takes 2 seconds to fire the engine up till it builds pressure again- check valve inside must have failed. I'm bout to order up a new fuel pump today, its somewhat of a weird fuel pump failure, as most of them do not give you any heads up, they just quit on ya when U are driving. My car is not tow-able with the amount of ground clearance I have. New pump is 300 dollars at Nissan.

How many of you have repleaced your fuel pumps already ? I got 130K miles on my car.

im looking at the same thing.

walbro pump is $99 but its a 255lph, and im wondering if itll outflow the FPR. id really like a 190 lph.

im having a pressure drop under accel, and replaced the filter already, to no avail. its been dropping down to 36 psi at times.

no leaks and appear to be no restrictions.

meh

My car did the crank, crank, sputter thing- classic check-valve symptom. I had the pump replaced just before the powertrain expired- but at only 39K! It never lost pressure while driving, tho.

Funny thing is my car has been doing the sputter always in the warm weather, I always thought it was hot soak problem and just let it go. Well lately it got worse and it takes a few cranks to get her to fire up after it sat for lets say 10 min or more still hot. Its never a issue when cold.

Dealer wants too much $$$, but at the same time Walbro reliability is not all that great so I am hesitant in repleacing my OEM with Walbro.

I would just get a Walbro 190lph or 255lph-hp and a FPR. A Walbro 190lhp is like $75 or you could get a used OEM one if you are cheap. Then again the 5th gen fuel pump setup is a PITA to work with.

can you show me where to get a 190lph for my car?

i dont mind changing the pump, its a really easy swap.

igzy, the regulator is damn near impossible to test, being integral with the fuel pump assembly. the pressure is fine at idle and moderate cruise, doesnt drop off until 4-5K at WOT, it certainly seems to be a derlivery volume issue, but i havent ruled it out. while im in there, ill likely replace it just to eliminate it as a possible cause, though the dealer doesnt list it, im not sure where ill get a replacement...

Did you try to find these used? I'm sure you could get both the pump and the regulator used for only a few $$$ vs new...
